Repair person said i need a new water valve that costs $100 plus and is a difficult installation and wants to charge $200 plus for labor? Is this accurate or can a handy man or my husband install the valve. Thanks

Hi Tracey, Thank you for your question. It really depends on how handy someone is. You should be able to install the part yourself. We do have a couple of customers who wrote in with installation instructions for this part: "removed the front cover below the compartment door, removed the 2 screws holding the valve to the case and removed the water lines from the valve. The process was reversed to install the new valve." and " Unbolted valve from wall. Unplugged electrical connection then unplugged two water lines by pulling them out of valve. Put in new valve-reinserted electrical plug and water lines. Bolted new valve back to wall." I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Ice machine was not getting water. When i poured water in the fill area it made ice. So i replaced the water inlet valve and now it just keeps pumping water in and overflowing the recycle area. I thought maybe it was a float but i do not think this machine has one. Any help appreciated.

Hi Allen, Thank you for your question. If you have just replaced the water inlet valve and water continuously flows into the fill area, the new water inlet valve may be defective or you may have an issue with one of the electronic control boards. You will need to test the water inlet valve with a multimeter to see if it has continuity. The reading should be between 200 and 500 ohms. Sometimes the exact reading may be found on the water inlet valve. If do not get these results, then you will need to replace the water inlet valve. If the valve is fine, check the electronic control boards for signs of wear, damage, scorching or burn marks. If they show any of these signs, they will need to be replaced. We hope this helps! If you have any questions, please let us know.

Water is only filling bottom of tray. Will this "water inlet valve" solve the problem? Tray was very slimey and people started getting sick? Ice had a bad smell! Cleaned, now is good but tray stopped filling about a month after tray was cleaned. Thanks
