My dryer stopped working, the timer knob just turns and doesn’t click and even my start button doesn’t work? What do you suggest?
For model number GTD33EASK0WW
Hello Kat, Thank you for the question. This sounds like the Timer Switch is defective and may need to be replaced. If the Cycle is not selected, the start switch will not work to start. We hope this helps!
The timer knob doesn't' move so the clothes gets too hot for drying!

THIS IS THE SECOND TIME, I'VE REPLACED THIS KNOB. THEY CRACK, AND THEN WON'T TURN. I'VE THOUGHT OF HAVING A PAIR OF PLYERS PERMANTELY AFFIXED TO THE CONTROL TO TURN ON THE DRYER. I'M ORDERING EXTRAS TO HAVE A SPARE.

My dryer won’t start. I have checked the push to start switch, door switch, high limit thermostat and drive belt. The timer knob seems to be working mechanically. How do I check it electrically. I have a multimeter and know how to use it.

Dryer wouldnt work
Dryer wouldnt work. I was out of town when dryer stopped working. My grandmaother, who I live with, had brother came over to troubleshoot. He spent a good amount of time and couldnt figure out the problem. When I returned home I tried it and immediately knew the knob was stripped because it didnt make the clicking noises. I verified by seeing where flat section was, then turning with knob and then seeing if flat section moved. Ordered new knob. Pulled old one off and put new one. Worked like a charm

DRYER TIMER KNOB WOULD NOT MOVE....CRACKED THE KNOW
REMOVED BACK COVER REMOVED THE SCREW HOLDING THE COMPONENT TO THE FRONT TOOK PHOTO OF HOW THE COLOR WIRES CONNECT REMOVED THE WIRE (TOOK THE LONGEST, HAD TO USE NEEDLE NOSE PLIERS TO BREAK THE TAB FEMALE TAB LOCKS. RE-WIRED THE NEW CONTROL PUT PLATE BACK ON DRY NOW RUNS AS INTENDED
timer control locked down, knob was broken trying to turn
took 6 screws 0ut of cover plate, removed wires one at a time and replaced on new part(timer) removed retaining scres turned 1/4 turn removed--replaced in reverse manner
Timer was extremely difficult to turn, causing the knob to strip. Unplugged power to dryer. Pulled knob off, pulled dryer out to get at the back side, removed the small bolts that hold the back on, pulled back off and let it hang by the ground wire, looked at switch away and saw it was attached by a nut and a torque screw, and two hooks, removed screw and nut, looked at new switch,I put a little oil on the shaft to free it up,and aligned it the same as the old one, took the old one off by sliding it up to clear the hooks and let it hang by the wires, installed new switch with nut and torque screw and hooks. Then looked at the wires on the old switch and transferred each wire one at a time to the same terminal on the new switch. Screw the back on to the dryer, plug power in, move dryer back in place put knob on.
Two surprises: (a) after removing two screws, instrument console required a hard whack to slide it back so it would come off; and (b) the timer was held in place by a torx (T-15) screw. The photo I took of the wiring was essential for installing the new timer.
Knob broke so we were using vise grips to turn with. The stem broke off so we had to replace the timer.
Took pics of the wiring after taking off back top plate. Found PartSelect on line. Put in part and ordered, quick, easy and simple. They did everything as stated. Put all wires back on and closed up. Tickled pink with PartSelect and will definitely use them again.
Took off back top panel, loosening one torn head screw, rotated timer counterclockwise approximately , removed timer ( front knob was already off) , exchanged wires out one for one , reinstalled , replaced back cover, and put knob on from the front. Very straightforward.
