What does a lid striker do on the washer
For model number GTW460ASJ5WW
Hi Inda,
Thank you for your question. The lid strike is located on the lid. When you close the lid it activates the lid switch. The lid switch is normally located beneath the main top and is in series with the motor circuit and must be activated for the motor to operate. The strike will push against the lid switch lever and closes the switch. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Hi Ronnie. This is probably a faulty door lock. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
The lid won't lock, it just clicks. So I can't wash clothes. It flashes saying END.

Hello Angie, thank you for your question. We have researched your model and found that the issue is probably with the lid switch assembly, part number PS16554755. If that does not take care of the issue then the problem is most likely to be related to the lid lock striker, part number PS11729471. If you require assistance to place an order, please contact customer service. We hope that helps!

When I did my last load, the top wouldn't open when finished. I pulled and it popped open but now won't begin the cycle (the "lid is locked" light won't light up). Do I need to replace only the latch or the entire locking system? And can you advise the part number and is is available for retail purchase other than on-line? Thanks
For model number GTW330ASKOWW
Hi Rick, thank you for reaching out. We have researched your model number and found that you will need to replace the whole lid switch assembly, part number PS16554755. We hope this solves your problem!
Lid switch won’t lock during wash or spin cycle, can this also cause the water to not fill up properly?
For model number GTW335ASN1WW
Hi Sharon, thank you for asking. Yes, a faulty lid switch or defective lid striker could cause your washer to not fill up properly. We suggest that you replace the lid switch assembly, part number PS16554755, to resolve the issue. If you require assistance to place an order, please contact customer service. We hope that helps!
Hi Jeanne, thank you for reaching out. We have researched the model and would suggest making sure the washer is leveled properly, and it is not overloaded. If the issue remains, the problem might be with the tub bearings. The bearings come with the transmission assembly, part number PS16729511. We hope this information helps!
Washing machine just hums when plugged in. All knobs and buttons do not respond

Washer fills then goes to soak and wont go in the other cycles just stay in soak
For model number GTW220ACK6WW
Hello John, Thank you for the question. This could indicate the Timer Switch that controls the cycles is defective and may need to be replaced. The Timer for this model is part of the User Interface Control Board, so the Board would need to be replaced. You can also test the Lid Switch Assembly to make sure it is telling the Board the Lid is closed and safe to start the Wash Cycle. We hope this helps!
Have ge washer. Pulled open when thought was done and now won't latch. Clothes are soaked, won't spin.

Lid lock blinks, washer will not operate
Put the parts in, turned washer on.....lid lock still blinks, will not operate. Suggest the control board that sends the signal to the solenoid lid lock switch is defective. Buying a new washer, scrapping this one.
The parts I ordered were made of junk plastic and did not match up with the the existing parts. The parts did not end up fixing the problem and I bought a new washer instead.
Don’t do this, but we prop the washer lid open so it doesn’t get musty between use; we put a sock or something in there to prevent the striker fro closing. When a family member hops up on the washer to get to the highest shelf in the laundry closet it snaps! And the. The washer won’t function.
REALLY easy- Just unscrewed the two screws with a Phillips, slid the old one out, the new one set in perfectly, and used the same screws to hold it in place. 2 minute task total.
