Next, I opened the door flat and removed the Torx fasteners holding the door panel to the door frame. I then separated the door panel from the frame enough to remove the sheet metal around the latch assembly and the plastic guard protecting the control PCB. I removed one hex head screw t ... Read more o allow the latch assembly to be freed from its mounting. To remove the handle, I deflected the two stops limiting the handle travel, part of the door latch frame (white plastic) and removed the broken handle assembly. The new handle was then inserted into the latch frame after carefully transferring two small sticky backed foam bumpers from the old handle to the new one. If I had new sticky backed foam I would have used it instead, and I recommend replacing it. Be sure to snap the handle in far enough so the stops limiting the handle travel have snapped into place.
Reassembly was to put the latch assembly back in by aligning it on the boss on one side, and fastening it with the hex head screw on the other side. It has a locating shape on the two mounting points, so be sure to align it so the screw goes in properly., and the door panel screw will go in when you reinstall the door panel. Next, replace the sheet metal and the control PCB guard, and make sure they are in the right place, then close up the door panel and replace the Torx screws.
Turn on the power, and you're all set.
