Is this adapter necessary or can I run the drain hose directly to the unit?

The drain adapater broke off the body of unit where is screws on to unit.Can this be replaced.

Does the hose adapter screw into part that’s already in the dehumidifier and you use a regular garden or utility hose to drain the machine. Or it is a replacement part only for what is in the dehumidifier?

Unit was bought 10-18. It worked great untill recently. It fills with water and stops working untill i dump it in the drain. The 3/4 drain hose is not doing its job. Once i dump the filled water it resumed working again.

Hi Carl, I am assuming you are referring to model ffad3033r10, Check and verify that the drain hose is running in a downhill manner all the way to the drainage port / sink / floor drain. Check to make sure that your drain hose is free from bends and kinks, clogs or other damage that may prevent water from flowing freely. Check to verify that the drain hose adapter has been installed properly. Improper installation of the drain hose adapter may result in the unit continuing to drain into the bucket, or not draining at all. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair!

I want to purchase the drain adapter so that i will no longer need to manually empty the bucket. After i install the adaptior ppiece, is there something else i need to do to cause the water to go to the adaptor/hose instead of draining into the bucket?

What does the adapter actually do? It looks more like a spacer to me just to make attaching the hose easier.

Frigidaire Dehumidifier Drain Hose Adapter
This basic but essential part allows you to connect a garden type hose to several different Frigidaire model dehumidifiers, which permit you to enjoy the continuous draining of your dehimidifier, versus having to manually empty the dehumidifier's water bucket daily (or, twice a day or more in the summer months). After attaching the adapter to the threaded end of the round, horizontal drain line located inside of my dehumidifier, I connected a standard hose to the threaded end of the adapter, and then ran the hose over to my the floor drain in my home's basement furnace/utility room. Simply stated, this adapter and my continuous draining system now works great! After checking my dehumidifier's water bucket several times, I have not found any leakage of water from the unit's horizontal drain line into the bucket. So, the adapter is doing exactly what it advertises.
