Water Filter Specifications

This is the replacement water filter for your refrigerator. It is white in color with a red cap, and is approximately 3 inches wide and six inches tall. The water filter reduces contaminants and improves taste in your refrigerator water supply. It is recommended to replace the water filter every six months. You will find the water filter at the back, top portion of your fresh food compartment. To remove the filter, simply twist it to the left until it can be removed. Then, remove the cap on the new filter, line up the arrow with the indentation, and twist to the right until it is secure. You may want to put a towel down below the filter when completing this repair, to catch any spills or drips. When you replace the water filter, hold down the dispenser trigger for a few minutes so that all the air is purged from the water lines, and the water tank fills up. This is an OEM part and is sold individually.

The food side of my Maytag wide by side refrigerator was 80 degrees.
Okay all you ladies out there, listen up. Yep, I am a girl and had never worked on a refrigerator before. I googled the model of frig and the problem. Finding that one of two things were probably wrong, I went to parts select and ordered both parts. Two days later they arrived. I replaced the coil and thermostat and waited one day -- the food side still did not cool down. I replaced the frost board and immediately the unit started to cool. I had called a repairman on Saturday and was told that they couldn't make an appointment until the following Friday because of a tremendous work load. I had the refrigerator running by Thursday, the day before anyone could even take a look at my refrigerator. Even though I spent $30 on a part I didn't need, I saved a bundle, the house call would of been more than $30.

Refrigerator Filter needed replacing
Turn counter clockwise, following the remove arrow on the filter, until it stops. Wiggle and pull down on the filter until it comes off. Put date sticker on new filter to remember when it was replaced. Align the lines on the filter and push it up where the old one was and turn it clockwise until it stops, following the install arrow. Close the door and push both the light and lock button together to reset the replace filter light. Run the water through the door for a couple minutes to get all of the air out of the system. Very easy and quick. Most time spent flushing out the air.

fountain flap was broken and let warm air in.
We just followed the instruction sheet that was included in the parts package. (instruction sheet has pictures) I just removed the 2 screws from the front and then disconnedted the element. unscrewed a couple more screws put on the new parts and reconnected the element put back the screws and it was done! I'm a single womand so me and my 23 yr old daughter did this project together. I ordered the parts early in the day and got them the next day. I only paid for 2-3 day shipping. I have ordered parts from Sears. They never have them in stock! The last order cost me $19.95 to ship. I waited more than 2 week for them to arrive. With Partselect the job was finished in 3 days!!

Freezer Iced Up/Refrigerator Warm
Defrost circuit was inside the control assembly inside the refrigerator so I snapped the two release clamps located to the rear of the assembly (lights and controls). Slid the whole assembly cover off and removed the lightbulbs and two screws right above them. In from of that is the temp switches and directional slider, removed the two screws holding that. With the four screws out, removed whole assembly and laid it dowm on the first shelf, defrost circuit is at the back right, easy change out but take note which way the 4 prong plug fits into the circuit board. Refrigerator was back to normal in about 6 hours.

I was cleaning the glass shelf that covers the crisper when it shattered in my hands.
There were two frame elements that I removed the shattered glass from and the new glass just slid into a slotted edge on one, and double stick tape on the other frame element and it was good as new. Resist the urge to throw away the frame elements because of the shards of glass, just be sure to wear protective gloves as you remove the peices and you have saved the additiional expense of new framing.

Water valve had cracked in a move and was leaking badly
Replaced the water valve with the new part by removing 2 screws to allow folding back of the cover, removing 1 screw and pulling valve assembly out. 1 more screw took the two valves apart, unscrewed the water lines, replaced them on new valve (with newer push-in connections it was even easier), reassembled unit, turned the water on, checked for leaks, none found. Works great, was very easy.

The Ice Cubes Would Dump Before Frozen
First pull the ice bin from the freezer. Then remove one screw that holds the ice maker in place. Rotate the ice maker to the right and up to release from posts on wall of freezer. Use a flat blade screwdriver at the front bottom of the white cover to pry the white cover from the ice maker body. Use teh flat blad screw driver to release the clip holding the wires to the ice maker. Remove a metal clip from the water receiver and transfer to the new icemaker. Transfer the ice sensing bail to the new ice maker. Install wires, front cover, hang on posts and reinstall screw to secure to freezer wall. Actuator pad requires you to first remove plastic cover over the top hinge of the freezer door. You must unplug the wire connector to prevent shorting out the printed wiring boards located behind the dispenser assembly. Then remove two screws and from the bottom carefully separate the dispenser from the door. The wires are not very long so don't just yank it out. The pad is easily removed and the new pad worked into place. Reinstall the dispenser into the door, reconnect the wires and reinstall the cover and you are finished.
