I change my water filter at least once a year and I always use the same one. When I pushed this one into place it wouldn’t click like it normally does and then water starts leaking. I don’t understand why this isn’t working. Was the filter changed or is there a problem with my fridge?

Danny

Question:

So for some reason my filter wont go in my fridge. I use the same brand and have never had a problem. Ive tried three times and nothing works and I don’t want to break anything. The kicker is that my old one is sliding in and out with no problem, what do you suggest? Thanks

Gio
Answer:

Hi Gio, if the filter is not going in, then the filter is the problem. You could try to put a few drops of vegetable oil on the seal to see if it helps slide the filter into place. Best of luck with this repair!

Question:

I removed the old water filter but it felt light as if empty, and there was no moisture around the tips. I checked and it was the correct filter. Water has continued to flow both in the ice maker and the door dispenser but I am thinking that the filter has not had water flowing through it. If the filter is not functioning, would there be water flowing at all? Could the housing be defective?

Duane for model number MSD2572VEB00
Answer:

Hello Duane, Thanks for your question. This could be an issue with the water inlet valve for your unit. You may want to test it with a multimeter for continuity, and replace it if it shows no continuity. I hope this helps.

Question:

Is there a cartage that i can run in place of the filter to clean the water lines. I left my filter in to long and i am getting a funny taste smell from the water and ice cubes. Other faucets in the house are fine so the plumbing in the house/water well is okay.

Rob for model number 106.59122801
Answer:

Hi Rob, Thank you for your question. There is no replacemant for a water filter listed under your model number. If you are getting a funny taste in your water and ice cubes you may have to replace the water filter. A water filter should be replaced every 6 months. If you have already installed a new water filter, it is always recommended that you flush it before use. You will need a container that fits into the water dispenser of your refrigerator and you will need to run water through your filter several times before using the it. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Deborah for model number ED5PVEXWS06
Answer:

Hello Deborah, Thanks for your question. It would be a good idea to check the water inlet valve, part number PS3497634, and to test it with a multi-meter for continuity if it does not have 20 psi. If it does not have continuity, replace it. Also test the micro-switch. Be sure to also check the water supply going to the water inlet valve. I hope this helps. Consider checking the water filter housing as well for any signs of damage, part number PS11748615. I hope this helps.

Water filter replacement

It's simple enough in theory: read the side of the box and follow the instructions. BUT you need to really push the knob in pretty hard (I am a girl, and my hand strength isn't that good). If you don't, when you turn the knob, the filter won't come out, then it's tougher. So: make sure the knob pops before you turn!

Change the water filter light was on.

It was ridiculously easy. Push the button on the filter canister holder at the base of the refrigerator and the spring-loaded mechanism came out smoothly. I unplugged the old filter, took the cap off the new on and plugged it in. After reinserting the filter canister holder and locking it in place, I heard the whoosh of water once again moving through the filter. Very satisfying and very easy to do.

Washing poorly, leaving particles of food on top of the dishes, not draining completely, ceiling spray arm not spinning (bent up to the ceiling)

The lower spray arm unscrews. From inside the dishwahser, put a screwdriver through the tab slots and unscrew the tower from the floor. It's pretty tight for plastic.
The upper spray arm has screws on the top of the dishwasher. You must slide the dishwasher out from underneath the countertop to get to the screws. Normally that's just the two screws above the door that screw into the countertop. Pull the insulation back and unscrew the arm from the top of the dishwasher. Reverse to reinstall.
Piston and nut assembly for check valve: Inside the dishwasher at the back there are 2 screws that hold a screen down. Remove the screen. Take out the check valve and replace it. It was still functional in mine, it looked like food gunk had built up on it and impeded the check valve action.
The flapper chec is a rubber flap in the drain tube that connects to your sink drain. You have to pull the dishwasher out from under the sink to get to the end of the drain tube that connects to the dishwasher. Take the hose clamp loose and remove the drain tube from the dishwasher. Then unscrew the plastic fitting that you just took the drain tube off of. The flapper chec is there. It had turned brittle and didn't flap anymore. It is a similar setup to the rubber seal at the end of your garden hose.

Ice maker stopped working.

Removed the icemaker to see if I could determine problem; motor was seized; got part numbers and ordered from you; parts arrived next day (even though overnight delivery wasnt' requested - so THANK YOU!); compared new parts to original to be sure of fit; reassembled unit; reinstalled in freezer, and waited for the sound of water filling the tray. Producing like brand new again! Cancelled the service call w/ Sears for the following week (when it was convenient for them) Loved your service!
