Will a bad oven sensor cause the oven to take an extremely long time to reach selected temperature, and cause food not to cook thoroughly (on the bottom) when the oven says it has reached temperature? If not,can you possibly suggest a cause?
For model number WFE714HLAS0
Hi Terrence , Thank you for the question. Yes the Oven Sensor can cause this.I suggest testing the sensor to see if it is defective.Testing the temperature sensor probe on your oven is easy. With the sensor at room temperature, measure the resistance between the two prongs at the end of the sensor connector. The resistance of the sensor should read approximately 1080 – 1090 ohms at room temperature. Hope this helps!

I need the lower baking element. The diagram image looks different from the part in my oven. The lower and upper elements connect to the back in the "center" of the oven wall. The parts diagram shows them with an offset to the lower left side.
For model number WFE540H0AS0
Hi Kevin,
Thank you for your question. This would be the correct bake element for your appliance. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Looking for 3600 watt baking element for this stove. I asked earlier today and your expert replied with a part no. D29142 . When i looked this part up it is a capacitor kit.You must have sent me the wrong info. Could you send the right no. For a baking element 3600 watts. Thanks
For model number ywfe540h0aso
Hello Tom,
Thank you for your question. We apologize for the previous confusion. The part number for the baking element for your model is under part PS11703285. Hope this helps!
How do I know if I need a new sensor or a new baking element? Oven takes a long time to reach the temperature desired. Once it does, the food is uncooked on the bottom of the pan and overcooked on the top of the pan.
For model number MER8674AW0
Hello Carrie,
Thanks for your question. Your issue is more likely due to the sensor, but we would recommend using a multi-meter to test both the sensor and the bake element, and replacing either if they are not showing continuity.
I hope this helps.

I have Maytag model mer8674ab0 oven that needs a replacement heat element which is under a heat cover. It has a two pronged sections that fits into the bottom middle of the back of the oven. What element is compatible? It is square shaped. The one in the diagram for the oven has the prongs on the left. That is wrong. I need a middle pronged piece. Which do you recommend.

I replaced the thermal fuse-thermostat, checked the heating sensor and it was in range for ohms 1085. Both top and bottom element still will not heat. I checked the wiring harness and there is no burnt or loose wires. Trying to figure out the next step?
For model number MER8674AWO
Hello Keith, thank you for your question. Since the sensor is testing within range and there are no burnt or broken wires on the elements the electronic control board would have to be replaced, Part Number: PS11756979. Good luck with your repair!

The oven would take an hour to preheat.
First, we turned on broil and the upper element turned orange and obviously worked. We figured the bottom element went out. The diagram on this site showed a bottom heating element that looked nothing like ours, but after reading other reviews, and reading that part that goes through the back of the oven was in the middle, and not off to the side, we ordered this element. It was perfect. All you have to do is unplug the oven, take out the bottom pan covering the element by removing 2 screws in the back, remove the lower small cover on the back of the oven and then unplug the old element, unscrew the old element on the inside of the stove, then install the new element and put everything back like it was. Nothing to it. It worked like a charm and my oven now heats up fast again. Easiest appliance repair job ever!

Bake element wasn’t heating properly.
I watched a video on google on how to replace the element and then looked on the internet to order the element. When the part arrived, I pulled the range out and unplugged it. Then I watched the video again and followed the techs instructions to remove the element and replaced it with the new one. It’s a very simple process that I think almost anyone can do . The online videos make the job easier because they show exactly the order of disassembly and assembly, and Part Select helped with finding the right part and shipping it in a timely manner. Thank you!

Oven bake element would not get hot
1. Turned off power 2.Removed back oven cover 3.Removed power leads to bake element 4.removed retaining screw for sensor. 5.replaced sensor 6.remove bake element cover 7.removed bake element retain screw 8.replaced and reversed process
I've replaced oven heating elements before, but never in a 3 year old electric range oven. I watched the video again after the element arrived, and installation was easy with only 2 screw drivers. I was concerned about the repair when I saw the severity of damage to the old heating element and the underside of the bottom oven metal/ceramic plate, which was almost burned (a hole) through. After finishing the installation the oven showed it was preheating but no heat was being generated. A couple of phone calls later, a Whirlpool repair technician told me the main control panel needed replaced- $385 much higher cost due to chip shortage, inflation, and would take 2 months to arrive due to supply chain issues. So I don't know yet if the element is good or not. I am disappointed that the element blew in a relatively new appliance, but a total cost of $600 in a 3 year old oven is still probably better than $1200 for a new oven which is double the price I paid in 2018. Part failures never come at a good time but 2 months without an oven at Christmas & New Years is added frustration. When the heating element burned out there was a loud buzzing sound associated with the failure, which I've never experienced before and there were flames coming from underneath the bottom plate in the oven for an extended period of time. The repair for the heating element itself went smooth, but be advised you may get into more than just the element.

Oven would not heat
Opened the breaker for the oven. Verified the power was off. Removed the racks from the oven. Using a screw driver removed two screws in the back of the oven holding down the steam bake bottom of the oven, pulled up from the back to get the pan out. Removed the screw holding the front of the element in place. Removed the screw in the shiny metal of the element at the back. Gingerly pulled the element to the front and as the element stopped slightly turned the element to let the prints come out. That part was challenging to get the angle right so not to damage the wires. Using a small Phillips screw driver I pushed in on the connector latch on the terminal and then pulled the terminals off the element one at a time. Follow all the steps in reverse to install the new one.

Bake element not working
I pulled the range out from the wall, then unplugged it from the wall outlet. I removed the oven door & set it aside. Removed the screws covering the rear wiring shield, then disconnected the 2 leads from the bake element. Unscrewed the screws holding the oven floor pan, then unscrewed the screws holding in the original element. Replaced it, screwed everything back together, and pushed the oven back against the wall. Took me about 30 minutes, and now the oven works as well as it did when we first bought it.

Working just fine so far.
Only used it a couple times so far, but so far so good. Fit great. I ended up leaving out one of the supports that came with the oven and just using the ones preinstalled on the element.
