Our ice maker is making too much ice and it’s jamming , we often need to empty the ice bucket and discover a solid ice on the bottom of the ice bucket preventing to dispense ice and making noice , also discover one of the plastic blade of the auger is broken should we replace the auger alone or replace the bucket with auger ? . Please advice and thank you in advance.

Hello Joise, thank you for writing. I would recommend replacing the whole ice bucket and auger assembly part number PS11701246. Also, if there is solid ice buildup on the bottom of the ice bucket you should check to be sure the gasket around the door is sealing well. Sometimes warm air can get into the unit and melt the ice enough to freeze at the bottom of the bucket. I hope this helps!

Our ice machine bucket building up solid ice on the bottom preventing the auger to spin when we’re trying to get ice cube what causes this problem?
For model number GSL25JFPA
PartSelect logo
Hello Josie, thank you for writing. It sounds like the temperature in the freezer might not be correct. If there is warm air getting into the freezer too often, the ice will melt little by little and cause a build up at the bottom of the bucket. I would recommend checking your door gasket to be sure it is sealing well and if it is not, it should be replaced. If the gasket is in good condition I would recommend checking the temperature in the freezer to be sure it is remaining at the suggested 0 degrees. I hope this helps!

What is the difference between p/n PS11701246 ice bucket assembly and p/n ps1483293 ? Other than the price, do either one fit and work in my model refrigerator? The only other variant i see is the coloring of the actual bucket..

My ice maker won't drop ice is the auger motor bad?
For model number 10641163310
PartSelect logo
Hi Victor, Thank you for your question. If the ice maker will not drop ice in to the ice bucket, there are a few things that you will have to check. First make sure the ice maker is turned on. Depending on the type of ice maker you have, see if the arm or paddle is in the proper position and make sure the ice maker is receiving an adequate supply of water. Make sure that the freezer is set to the proper temperature. If the freezer is not cold enough, this can prevent ice from being made. Check the level of the ice cubes in the ice bucket, if the piled is up too high, then the ice maker will turn off. Sometimes if there are ice cubes stuck in the ice maker, this can cause the ice maker to shut off. Make sure there are no ice cubes stuck in the ice maker. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Ice crusher/dispenser would run but no ice would come out.
I removed the ice drawer, dumped out the ice and found the front end of the clear plastic auger and the crusher housing cover were broken. To dissassemble the auger system, I removed the phillips head screws that hold the crusher-dispenser onto the drawer, took off the washer and extrernal snap-ring from the auger shaft end. After removing the auger assebly, I pressed in on two plastic catches (on the dispenser housing) and gently pried the dispenser from the drawer with a small flat screwdriver. Then I removed the plastic nut from the end of the auger. Ass'y was much easier once the parts arrived. This repair would probably be too much for the average homeowner.

Brittle plastic pieces crack and break.
Repair was simple; unscrew and unsnap the various pieces, and snap-and-screw it back to together. But what a disappointing design. Between replacing seized solenoids (twice) and plastic parts, this through-the-door dispenser "feature" is a maintenance money pit. Sure glad that PartSelect can provide the parts quickly.

Plastic parts of the auger were appearing in our glasses of water...
I took the ice bucket out and looked at it carefully. The auger was breaking apart little by little. I went on-line to find what part I needed. I came to Part Select and they had a diagram telling exactly what part would solve my problem. I ordered it online and it arrived, nicely packed about four days later. I took out the old ice bucket with the broken auger and replaced it with the new one (which I washed out before installing). It was so easy and I didn't have to pay a repairman to do it. The price was reasonable, too. I have this site bookmarked in case anything else needs to be replaced. It's amazing what you can do yourself!

2nd repair to ice dispenser in 4 years
The first repair 2 years ago was due to the plastic auger that moves the cubes forward had broken. Recently we had began to notice small piece of plastic in our ice water. Finally the plastic piece that keeps multiple cubes from falling through the chute broke. I decided this time just to replace the whole auger and bucket assembly. Pulled the old one out... put the new one in, and alot less agravation than replacing parts.
