The 40W light bulb is found in the interior of your microwave, which will need to be replaced if you have noticed the light is no longer coming on after opening the door. The light bulb is clear in color and made of glass. For this installation, you will need a Phillips screw driver and utility knife. Before beginning, make sure to disconnect the power and wait a few minutes. Remove the two screws in the groove vent, set aside, and then lift the grill vent forward and pull up to remove. The light bulb should be underneath a panel and may require the use of your utility knife to remove the silicone holding it in place. Line the new bulb up with the socket and screw it into place until it is snug.

Question:

I can't find instructions or parts for the light that is under-mounted, and over the stove top. The clear plastic cover (which lies between the grease vents) comes off, and it feels like the two sockets are closest to me, so the installed bulbs would extend toward the wall. However, i cannot get a standard appliance bulb to fit in the area, especially once the cover is replaced. The microwave is almost 20 years old, and the burned out bulbs were removed so long ago i cannot remember what they looked like.

Question:

The cavity light on our microwave doesn't appear to be working properly. The light flickers on and off when the door is opened, but doesn't do this all the time.It works fine while cooking. I checked the plug, and the light bulb and it seems to be in order and the light timer has been cancelled. This is all a bit disconcerting. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help!

Hi Peter, Thank you for the question. There are three door switches on the microwave. I suggest testing the switches with a Multi Meter to determine if one or more are defective. Hope this helps!

Question:

We had to replace the bulb on this microwave a few months ago, and the bulb only lasted a few weeks. I'm hesitant to get a new bulb in case the same thing happens, and unfortunately most of the reviews I've seen for the bulb we need has pretty much the same story (it just doesn't last). I found that the replacement bulb part number is 8206443 - is there something wrong with this version of the bulb? Thanks!

Answer:

Hi Kristin, Thank you for the question. I am not showing we have a lot of warranty claims on the bulb but I suggest in this case to check the socket. It is possible that it might be defective and burning the bulb out. Hope this helps!

Question:

The light does not come on inside the microwave when i open the door nor when i attempt to turn the light on underneath. The clock is on and the timer pad beeps when i touch it to set a heating time. The time counts down but the microwave does not come on. Why is it not coming on? Do i need to change the bulbs and filters? If bulbs and filters are changed, will this correct the problem? The problem started when i attempted to turn on the light underneath. The light came on for a moment, heard a "pop" and a spark came from the right side and landed on the stove.

Answer:

Hello Mary, Thank you for your inquiry. You can try testing the socket and bulb, but you may have also blown a fuse. We would recommend testing the line fuse, door switches, and the door latch. You can test the parts with a multimeter. If you are unfamiliar with how a multimeter functions, there are YouTube videos available to assist you. Hope this helps!

Burned out light under microwave and filters needed changing
I just removed the multiple screws which held the hood cover on. I then attempted to remove the light bulbs from the socket. This proved impossible because the bulbs were so fragile from the heat and grease build up. To make this task much easier and probably safer, just replace the bulb housing and light bulb. The bulb housing unplugs very easily. Just replace it then screw your new bulb in. P.S. Be sure to unplug appliance before you start.

The filters are very easy to replace. No tools needed.

Hope this helps.

Burned out light bulbs in microwave hood stove
I had some difficulty removing the glass plate because of the awkward (upside down) position of the screw that retained it. After replacing the burned out bulbs and replacig the glass plate the problem of replacing the screw involved my dropping the thing several times before I got the screw threads to catch. I got a screw thread to catch enough to hold the glass plate in position and left it at that.

Tabs broken off vent grille and lower bulbs burned out
The instructions were poor and inadequate. I knew there would be a problem because the lower bulbs were frozen in and that a major disassembly was required. Upon dropping down the lower cover, replacement of the bulbs was easy. The grill and grease filters replacement were not an issue.

I biggest complaint is that the web site refused to accept the model number of my appliance which is MH7140XFZ (beige colored plastic). As a result I had to buy a white colored vent grille, which looks dumb.

Glass of burned out bulb broke leaving metal part in socket in microwave hood combo
Replaced bulb by: 1 pulling plug on microwave to make sure not hot - no power; 2 used needle nose pliers with head part about same size that fit inside of socket; 3 opened pliers and held firm against broken metal part; keeping pressure of pliers against broken metal part of light bulb, slowly unscrewed the broken part from socket using firmly held opened pliers. The rest was a cinch...just screwed in new light bulb, plugged in microwave and viola - there was light once again.
