Why is my freezer icing up in the uppermost section of the cabinet. It appears as if the defrost is not working! How can I troubleshoot the defrost issue? Can you tell me how to check whether it is the heater or the defrost plate of the drain leading into the drain tube; that is where it seems to ultimately accumulate to!
For model number E42BS75EPS
Hello Mike, Thank you for your inquiry. While the freezer defrost thermostat and heater are only available as part of the evaporator assembly, you can still test them with a multimeter to see if they are working. We have included a link to one of our articles that although it is for the opposite symptom of the freezer being too warm, it does mention how to test the defrost heater and thermostat and what the readings should be. You can also check to see if the defrost drain is clogged by using a hair dryer and thaw all the ice out then shoot hot water down the drain hole with a turkey baster to make sure the drain hole is clear. We hope this helps you.
