This is the replacement wave guide cover for your microwave. It is white in color and is approximately 3 ½ inches long and 4 inches wide. It has two small tabs at the top that allow it to lock into place. The wave guide cover transmits microwave radiation while preventing steam and food particles from interacting with the sensitive electronic components of the microwave. If your wave guide cover is damaged or missing, it will need to be replaced. Be sure to disconnect power from the microwave before you begin this repair. This part is sold individually and is an OEM part.

Great part and easy to install!
The part what I ordered was great. My microwave was flashing sparks and we ordered the part. Came in 7 days and was easy to replace and we didn’t need to buy new microwave so I am very happy. I highly recommend!!!

snaps right in - no tools required
The previous repair on this microwave had a special plate installed that looked bad and kept falling out of place. We smelled a burning smell and noted black burn marks where there were gaps. It only took 3 days to get this part and it snapped in without any tools. This resolved the issue and looks much better than the previous repair job.

Much better than the original cover
The original wave guard was a thin rectangle held in place by two small plastic rivets. One of the rivets came off and was lost. This replacement is simple to install, fits great and matches the interior of the GE microwave perfectly. They should have used this originally.

Wave guide cover one of the pins holding it in place was missing / cover loose
I simply removed the other push pin holding in the old cover and put the bottom in first and snaped into place at the top. The whol job took less than 5 minutes.

My microwave is making loud noises upon consecutive uses. It gets much louder each time the microwave is used consecutively. It sounds like maybe the fan? Can this be repaired? If so, what parts do I need, and can I do this repair myself or do I need to hire someone?

Hello Avril,
Thanks for your question. Given your description, you may need the exhaust fan motor, part number PS8754502. We would highly recommend only having a licensed technician install this part, as your microwave's internal parts can contain electrical charges even when the unit is unplugged.
I hope this helps.
I submitted a question re: My microwave making loud noises upon consecutive uses (sounds like the fan getting louder and louder) and was told to purchase a wave guide cover (part select #ps1020520; man part #wb48x10047. Can this part be installed by myself (if so, how?), or do i need to have a professional install? Thank you.
For model number PEB1590DJ1WW
Hi Avril,
Thank you for your question. This is a fairly easy part to install. It should snap it place. If you have any issues, you may need to call a technician to come and help you. Before you begin any repair please unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!
