This is the light switch that goes in your refrigerator. If the light is not working or stays on, you may need to replace the switch. It is made of mainly white plastic, and is an OEM part, directly from the manufacturer. Be sure to disconnect the refrigerator from the power source before you begin this repair. To remove the switch, simply use a flathead screwdriver to pop the switch out from the refrigerator wall, then disconnect the wires. Reconnect the wires to the new switch, snap it into place, and the repair is complete.

Broken light switch, caused by a dropped can of whipped topping

Interior light door switch broken when jar fell off shelve and hit switch
Very easy with small screw driver . Carefully pry broken switch out pull off two connectors install new switch connect as before . Unplug refer 1st . Works great . Refrigerator will not work with bad switch

The switch was loose ( no spring). The lights did not work.
Unplug the refrigerator. Gently pry old switch out with screw driver. Move wires to connector on new switch with needle nose pliers. Pop it back into the hole. Plug back in. Peek inside to see the lights working.

Replaced Light Switch and Dispenser Light Bulb
Extremely easy. Just screwed in the light bulp. Used pliers to pull out th dispenser switch. Then disconnected the electrical wires ((they just snap off), reattached the wires and then pushed the new switch in. Took less than 10 minuets.
Can of fruit fell from shelf and broke the switch cover.
Removed broken switch with plastic scraper (press tension latch on bottom), moved two wire terminals to the new switch and pressed the new switch into the hole.

Hing door brine off
Poped whole switch out with flat head screw driver. Removed wires with needle nose players and held the wires so they wouldn't get pulled back inside fridge shell. Attached wires to new part like a plug. Lights ccame back put new switch back inside wall. Shut door

Refrigerator light not coming on

Child Broke Light Switch Inside Refrigerator

Refrigerator door switch went bad
It was very simple! I assessed the situation and gathered my tools for the job. I used a flat head screwdriver, pliers, and electrical tape. I used the flat head screwdriver to release the switch from its location, the pliers to take the electrical terminations apart. I taped the wires individual so that I would not loose them in the door

Pulled the tape off one of the of the terminals while holding the wire, and attached it to the new switchs terminal post. Did the same with the other wire, then snapped the new switch back into place. Immediately had results. I opened and closed the door a few times in amazement that something so annoying such as a light in your fridge could be so easy to fix. Is there a specific red / blue wires from the fridge go to on the replacement doorswitch? Or does it not matter... just don't want to fry??? something!

Hello James, Thank you for your inquiry. We have researched your model and show holding the switch the way it comes out of the side of the fridge with the prongs towards the inner bottom, the blue wire is on the left, and the red wire is on the right. Hope this helps.

What is the part# for the rear light in the freezer compartment? It first went very dim, then out totally. The other side lights are still working fine.

My GE Refridgerator door ajar alert intermittently comes on several times during the day and night. I have to reset it but that does not solve the issue entirely. I tried taping the light switch down so the light does not come on. That worked well but not entirely either I still have the annoying alert come on once a day usually in the early morning. Your thoughts sir?

Thank you for your question. According to your owner's manual, this alert will sound to alert you that the door has been open for 5 minutes or more. The door ajar LED will illuminate and the audible alert will sound until the door is closed. The audible alert can be turned off by pressing the Alert RESET key or by closing the door. If the door is ajar for 15 minutes, the interior light will turn off. Sometimes resetting the refrigerator by unplugging it for a few minutes will reset it. If this does resolve the issue, you will need to check the control board, the door switch and the gasket. If the gasket is not sealing correctly air may get inside. Once you have determined the part you need, please feel free to call customer service. We are open 7 days a week and anyone will be happy to assist you. We look forward to hearing from you!

Based upon your diagram, there are two lights in the freezer compartment. Is it likely that both bulbs would burn out at the very same time? Would this indicate it is more than likely the switch mounted in the freezer door?

Thank you for your question. It is possible for the boards to got out at the same time, but check the door switch to see it is working correctly. To test the door switch, you will need to remove it from the refrigerator to see if it has continuity. Before removing and testing it, unplug the refrigerator from the electrical outlet. Set your multimeter to the Rx1 setting to test the switch for continuity and place the probes on the switch’s terminals. The multimeter reading should change from infinity to a reading of zero. Keep the leads touching the terminals and press in on the switch. The reading should change back to infinity. If the results you receive are not consistent with these results, you need a replacement door switch. We hope this helps! If you have any questions, please let us know.

Water dispenser light bulb does not come on when water dispenser is depressed. However, bulb is good, stays on when screwed on tightly, replaced new bulb socket as well. What could be the cause for this please?
