Upper Rack Adjuster Kit - White Wheels, Left and Right Sides Specifications
This authentic Dishwasher Upper Rack Adjuster Kit with white wheels is a kit made up of primarily plastic and metal components, and which will require a screwdriver to install. This kit comes with all the necessary parts for a dishwasher rack adjuster. It fits onto dishwasher rack and connects it to the track allowing it to slide in and out. If broken then the rack will no longer slide properly, and the part must be replaced. In many cases, our customers have reported the top rack of their dishwasher hanging down or sagging due to the adjuster kit, particularly the wheels, have broken or failed. If you are having problems in this area, this kit will help get your dishwasher back up and running.
Check your model number and user manual to see if this part is right for you. The parts for this kit come as a package and are not generally sold individually. Please see as follows for detailed repair instructions: First you will have to remove your upper dish rack and the old adjust kit. Now, when installing the new kit, count 4 rungs from the back of the basket toward the front. Take your new metal adjuster and thread the shaft through the fourth rung. You may have to tilt it to get it through. When you straighten the part the portion of the wheel should be on the outside of the rack and the shaft will be on the inside of the rack. Take your positioner clips and use them to secure the adjuster to the rack. You will see two front tabs and two back tabs. The back tabs will also need to be tilted into place so that they are on the inside of the rack. The flat part of the positioner clips should be on the outside of the rack. Then you will push the clips down on to the adjuster to clip them into place.
Now you will have to install the adjuster body on to the adjuster. Pull your adjuster all the way down. Tilt the adjusted toward the inside of the rack, you will notice that the adjuster body has a channel that will fit the adjuster. Slide those two pieces into place together. You will have 4 notches on your adjuster body that fit perfectly with your rack. Pull-on your metal adjuster to lock it into place. Grab your actuator. You want to make sure that the thumb pad of your actuator is facing toward the inside of the rack and is closer to the front of the rack. Pull the adjuster arm up as far as you can, so that the body is a little bit above the top of the rack. The set the actuator inside of the two slots at the top of the body. You may have to tilt the body toward the inside of the rack to fit the actuator into place. Once you have that part in place, push the whole assembly down and press it back up against the side of the rack into place again. Now you will take the adjuster cover and install it on to the body from the outside of the rack. There is a little tab at the top of the cover, you will have to push that into place in the slot at the top of the adjuster body. That just snaps down into place. Then you install your two T15 Torx screws into the cover to hold it into place. This installation is the same for both sides.

The right hand side of the upper rack isn’t connected to the metal track anymore and therefore can’t hold any weight on the right side. Is there a better part to fix this.
For model number wdt790slym3
Hello Andrew, thank you for your question. The rack adjuster kit has been redesigned as the original adjuster was not as stable and was causing issues for customers. The adjuster kit would come with all parts for the right and left side of the upper rack and would be the only parts that would fix the issue you're having. I hope this helps!

Hello,
I only need a roller replacement kit for one side of my dishwasher, not both sides. Is it possible to just buy a kit for one side? (part w10712395)
For model number Wdt780saem1
Hello Sarah, thank you for your question. Unfortunately, the manufacturer only sells the kit that includes parts for both sides. Good luck with your repair!

Instruction from Whirlpool Not Good (No problem with Part Select)
Trial and error. The instructions from Whirlpool included with the part had minuscule pictures so it was hard to follow. The written instructions were good. But "a picture is worth a thousand words." Eventually it worked. The metal replacement part is much better the the plastic original. Not a good reflection on Whirlpool.

OEM roller wheels were on plastic shaft which broke. Replacement was on stainless steel bracket with metal shaft, better quality. Don't think I will have to replace again.

Upper rack wheels had begun to break off. Shoddy design and materials.
I carefully followed the video instructions step by step. They were detailed, clear, and pointed out how to avoid installation mistakes. WIthout the video I would have been tempted to just figure it out myself - ("Hey, I'm a handy guy. How hard could it be, right?"). With the video I sailed right through with no dumb errors. The new rack adjuster wheel set is much sturdier than the Whirlpool original. It made sense to get new rack stops at the same time. Thank you, PartSelect.
The factory guide wheel snapped off of the plastic rack support
I followed the installation instructions included with the kit, they are not the clearest or the most detailed but they allowed me to finish the job in under 15 minutes. Only one side was broken but I replaced both sides in the time. Not a big job and very easy for a DIYer with average mechanical ability.

Rack adjuster wheel broke. Had to replace entir unit.
The install video was invaluable, and made installation a breeze. Unfortunately it did not include instructions to remove the original adjuster — which was of a slightly different design as the replacement. I eventually got the old part off using a screw driver to pry the plastic snap connections apart.

The rack adjusters on the machine had failed. The wheels had broken off.
I did this repair after watching the video on PartSelect's website. It went exactly as it was shown on the video. The video did not show removal of the old components. None of the old adjuster parts need to be saved for re-use so if they break upon dis-assembly it does not matter. This project went about as well as a project could. I certainly recommend this repair using the parts on PartSelect's website. Very good!

Wheel broke off of dishwasher top rack
I followed the directions on YouTube and the paper that came with the part. The only problem is the 'little tabs' that they act like are easily pushed are rather more difficult since you don't want to break the things off.

The wheels on the upper rack kept coming off
What I needed were simple clips to lock in the wheels. I ended up getting a kit that required replacement of the roller tracts on both sides of the upper rack. The instructions were terrible. The repair took far more time than it should have. Once one side was fixed it was easy to fix the other side. By then I had worked my way around the muddled instructions.

Great Replacement Part
This replacement part is what should have come on my dishwasher to begin with. Only took about 10-15 minutes to remove old garbage off my top rack & install this. Much sturdier & hopefully will last a long time. I was almost ready to buy a new washer, but thankfully I found this and saved some cash!

Upper Adjuster Rack Kit Replacement
The wheels on my old upper dishwasher rack had broken and the rack was about to fall down. This kit contained everything I needed to do a complete repair. The video on the website was extremely helpful as it showed step by step how to replace the parts. The video did it in 9 minutes. It took me about 30 minutes as the old parts were slightly different than what was on the video and it took a bit to figure out how to remove them. All in all - a pretty easy fix.

Whirlpool upper rack fix
Although the part is different than what is on the washer itself, it was easy to install with the help of YouTube. Once I replaced one side of the rack, the other side took me 15 minutes at the most. Works great and glad I attempted to fix it myself. The new parts look sturdier than the original.
