Would the failure of this part cause a squealing or high pitched noise during wash cycle or agitation?

My Kenmore 11026132410 washer is making a grinding noise during the wash/agitator cycle. The basket/drum is still working but makes an awful grinding noise. It is also making a loud grinding/squeal sound during the spin cycle. However, it does not always make this sound during the spin cycle but the grinding noise is constant in the agitator wash cycle. I replaced the top washer wash plate but did not help. What part would I need to fix this? Would I simply need a new clutch and activator switch? Is this the same as the slider? Maybe it is the slider that I need. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Washer is not agitating. Moved the washer and saw black dust on the floor directly under the Washer Motor Rotor, so I took the motor rotor off. I looks like the motor rotor is rubbing against the Motor Strator. It seem like the spindle has got loose and not spinning in center causing it to rub. I suspect the gearcase is the problem.

Hello Danny, thank you for your question. The most common issue is a faulty Gearcase/Drum shaft PS12741641. This assembly connects the spin basket to the drive motor to spin the basket. You can verify this by carrying out an inspection test: 1. Begin by unplugging your washer. 2. Remove the cabinet's fastening screws and remove the cabinet itself. 3. Now you will need to locate your gearcase. 4. Once you have located the gearcase, plug your washing machine back in and run a wash cycle to determine if the gearcase is the source of the problem. A faulty gearcase will make strange noises during operation. Use caution when performing this step, as the internal components of your washer are exposed. If the gearcase is noisy during this test, you need a replacement gearcase. Also, the bearing is not available separately but comes as a part of the gearcase. You may need a 7/16 socket and a spanner nut wrench for the removal of this part. We hope this information helps!
