Washer fills and drains, will not agitate or spin. Self diagnostics pointed to lid lock or control board. Replaced both. Service call tech charged and said "it might be the the glass reed swith that is activated by the magnet (118) on the lid or the motor". I tested and diagnosed that the switch is good. How do i directly test the motor? What voltage and what access point? Any other suggestions? Tia.

Hi Don,
Thank you for your inquiry. To test your motor, disconnect the power source to your washer before you conduct this or any other test. Either unplug the unit from the wall outlet, remove the appropriate fuse from the fuse box, or flip the appropriate breaker in the circuit breaker panel.
Locate your washer's motor. There will be to wire leads connected to the motor. Disconnect the motor's two wire leads from the wiring harness. Set your multimeter to the R x 1 setting. Touch each of the meter's probes to one terminal each. Your motor should show little resistance (a reading of zero, or close to zero). Now check the ground connection. Place one probe on the bare metal housing of the motor. Place the other probe on each terminal, one at a time. You should not receive any reading on your meter from this test. If your washer's motor fails either of these tests, you will have to replace it. How to replace a washer's motor. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Hello, we have a GE laundry center which was purchased in may 2011. I had a service call today and they informed me the washer needs a bearing replacement and they don't do rebuilds. Do you have an estimate of who much this repair would run including parts? Thank you!
For model number GTUP270EM0WW
Hi Lisa,
Thank you for contacting us. We are a part dealer and unfortunately we do not do repairs. If it is the front drum bearing that you will need to replace I have linked the part down below for you so that you can get a price on that part. Good luck with your repair.
