Before you start this repair, make sure your refrigerator is unplugged. For help with this installation, check out the video below.

Question:

When ice container becomes full, ice maker should turn off automatically with wire arm lifted up to off-position. But even if full-ice and off-positioned wire arm, incoming water does not stop & frozen and eventually mess-up the freezer. Please let me know if you have any recommendable solution.

Sung for model number FRS26R2AWA
Answer:

Hi Sung, Thank you for the question. I would recommend replacing the Water Inlet Valve, PartSelect Number PS7784018. The function of this part is to release water from the supply line when activated, and send it through to your water dispenser and ice maker. If the valve is stuck open on the ice maker side it will continue to send water through even when the ice maker is full.Hope this helps!

Question:

Hi, the ice maker is not making ice, when I noticed that the tray was empty, I put water with a cup. However, it freezes but 10 minutes later the ice is melting and the ice cube is never released. The temperature in the freezer is close to 0 degrees Fahrenheit. What it could be?

Luis for model number FRS6HR45KS4
Answer:

Hi Luis, Thank you for the question. I suggest testing the thermostat in the ice maker with a multi meter to see if maybe this part is defective. If the thermostat is working properly you may need to replace the ice maker its self. Hope this helps !

My ice maker is working fine as far as making ice. It doesn't dispense ice through the door. The water side is fine. What can i do to make the ice come through the door?

JoAnn for model number FRS6R3JW4
Answer:

Hello JoAnn, thank you for contacting us. That sounds like it could be the auger motor, if that has failed the auger will not spin to push out the ice, nothing would happen when you press the button, you may hear a slight hum. Good luck with the repair!
