Product Description
Washer Drive Pulley Specifications
This is a replacement clutch assembly or cam kit for your washer. The clutch assembly is mounted on the drive shaft on the bottom of your washer. You may need to replace the clutch assembly if the splines on the clutch assembly are stripped and the washer is making noise, or if you are having problems with the wash and spin cycles. You will need to access the bottom of the washer for this repair. It is easiest to if you disconnect your washer from both the water and power source, and lay it on its back. The clutch assembly contains 6 parts, and all are included with the kit. It is also important to change out the entire assembly, rather than individual pieces.

My washer is making a load noise like a bad bearing in spin cycle. It will also make a noise with the tub empty when its spun by hand. Could this be the clutch or possibly the bearing in the gear case. Thanks
For model number MVWX700XW1

Hi Chris,
Thank you for your question. It looks like most of the time when you are having that sort of issue, the clutch and the gearcase are the parts that are most likely causing it. It sounds like it is just a wear and tear issue so you should be able to see if any of your parts there have simply just worn down. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

It goes thru all the cycles and agitates. Once it gets to the rinse, the agitator spins up but the basket starts to spin and can't keep up making a slipping sound. This causes it to wobble and vibrate which shuts down the spin cycle. I did inspect the clutch cam and the teeth are not worn down. Could this really be the clutch cam, belt, or the splutch? I did put in a new actuator with no new result.
For model number MVWC400XW4

Hello Evan, thank you for your question. I would definitely suggest replacing the Clutch W10721967, especially if the actuator was replaced already. You may want to replace the belt as a precaution while your're in there. A worn belt can cause slippage as well. I hope this helps!

My machine would start the wash cycle but would not run the spin/drain cycle and would stop - clothes would be wet - we were able to put it on drain/spin for a little while and now it won't do that
For model number MVWC450XW2

Hi John,
Thank you for your question. The first part that I would suggest you check is your lid latch assembly. It sounds like that part has failed and will not let you go into your spin cycle any longer. The other part you would want to check is your shift actuator and then this part, you clutch assembly. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

I replaced suspension rods and now when my washer is on spin cycle it makes a loud banging noise and jumps and bounces all over the place which part should i inspect for damages
For model number ntw4650yq0

Hello Bill, thank you for your question. We would recommend checking drive block PartSelect Number PS11741977. If the Drive Block is damaged it can cause the tub to be off balance and cause it to shake. Hope this helps, good luck with this repair!

At the end of a wash clothes are rapped around the agitator in a ball ,could this be caused by the clutch brake? If so what part is it. Thank you, guy
For model number WTW4800XQ

Hi Guy,
Thank you for your question. Based on what you described, it does sound like the clutch. The clutch may be rusted and worn and you will need to inspect it to see if it is cause of the clothes wrapping around the agitator. I would also check the agitator directional cogs located at the top of the agitator to see if they have come loose. Sometimes this may cause the issue as well. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Motor will not turn during gentle agitation or low spin test in the manual test mode. It hums. It will spin if i give the belt a little pull when in the agitate test mode. The motor will turn in the agitate and spin tests if i remove the belt. I replaced the capacitor, but still have the same problem. Does this indicate i need a new clutch assembly?
For model number MVWC400XW2

Hi Gary, Thank you for the question. If there is no loud noise like a grinding the clutch should be ok. Your issue sounds like the motor is defective and needs to be replaced. Hope this helps!

The tub will not agitate. But the tub will spin? So is it partselect #ps10057144 what i need to fix this problem?
For model number MVWX655dwo

Hi Norman,
Thank you for your question. The clutch assembly is one part that will fix the issue. There are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the drive belt, the lid latch assembly, the washplate, the shield and the hub. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Washer makes loud whining noise on spin cycle. Also keeps stripping out wash plate splines.
For model number WTW5640XW0

Hello Jim,
Thank you for contacting us.
This generally occurs when the washer has been overloaded. It may also indicate that there is something caught between the wash plate and the tub.
I hope this helps.

Noise on bottom of Washer louder as time went on. 1 1/2 years
Well, first investigated and found loose nut on drive clutch. First take off the two screws with nut drive then cover off using a screwdriver blade to snap off the cover. Then socket ratchet to take off the nut on drive clutch. take off belt by slowly rotating the drive gear. two screws that hold the electronics to the upper drive clutch and put aside, so you can snap off the cover for drive clutch on upper part with screwdriver and off the parts come and install whole unit back as took it apart. Line up the new upper clutch so that is position as was before. (Using parts diagram helps a lot as www. partsselect.com has for you or Maytag.com.) Then put the electronic part board back on and the gear and nut. Make sure it is tight by several attempts to make sure it's snugged up good and then slowly roll belt back on the pulley and motor drive. Put your cover guard back on with two screws and done.

Noise, grinding sounds. Wash tub stopped turning but motor and cycles kept functioning. Process of elimination, must be the clutch assembly.
Easy, just followed the repair video. Recommend also ordering the drive belt. Bought one locally during my repair.

Great part. Easy repair
Same as original
Kaye S - April 23, 2020

Easy repair and I received all the parts I needed in one purchase.
The only complaint I have is that I wish the part had come with directions on how to install the part. My brother removed the part I was replacing, along with some other parts that had to be removed in order to replace the broken part. I found several videos on YouTube and after looking thru countless websites I finally found written directions. After that I repaired my washer in about 15 mins. I comprehend written directions better than being shown how to do it thru a video.

Prompt service
The part that I ordered arrived promptly. The splutch I recieved was easy to install in less than 30 minutes. Unfortunately for me, however, it did not remedy my problem. Sometimes youtube videos will lead you in the wrong direction. No fault of PartSelect. I will definately order from them again.
