The piston ring between the cylinder and piston within an air compressor is used to form a tight compression seal to allow the piston to move up and down without touching the cylinder wall, as well as dissipate heat evenly away from the piston and align the piston properly within the cylinder. This piston ring is designed for and compatible with various models of air compressor and is sold as an individual OEM part. This piston ring has a 48mm (1.89-inch) inner-diameter and 62.5mm (2.46-inch) outer-diameter and is specially coated and oil-free. If you notice increased noise and vibrations or simply poor performance from your air compressor, there is likely something wrong with the piston ring or pistons that would warrant an inspection. To replace this piston ring, first turn your air compressor off and disconnect the spark plug. Then, disassemble the cylinder by removing the cylinder head/cover or any other components blocking access to the pistons, referencing your user manual for the exact location. Once inside the cylinder, slide out the piston very carefully, and take note of its orientation. Remove the old ring from between the cylinder and piston and press the new one on with firm and even pressure. Now, reassemble the air compressor and monitor its performance.

I am looking for the compression ring for this model.
For model number 919.167241
Hi Gina,
Thank you for your question. The compression ring is sold with the connecting rod assembly. The part number listed under your model number for the connecting rod assembly is N036518. This part has been discontinued with Craftsman, but it is available with DeWalt. The part number for the assembly with DeWalt is the same as the part number with Craftsman. We hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!
