Are gas caps required to hold pressure in the tank? This seems to open the float in the carb .
For model number Powermate edger , 79cc, 9"

Hello, Thank you for your question. Usually if you do not have a gas cap it will not seal and will not hold the pressure. Good luck with this repair.

edger will not run longer than 1 minute
I replaced the carburetor, air filter, cleaned out the gas tan and replaced the fuel line and filter. As a last resort I replaced the gas cap and gas still will not flow from the gas tank to the carburetor. I have worked on engines of all sizes over the years and this one has me stumped.....by the way I am 71 years old:) If anyone has an idea please le me know.
