Microwave wouldn't turn on and found breaker been tripped and then microwave wouldn't turn on at all.
Read some instructions and easily found the fuse. Replaced it. Still didn't work. Took control panel off to check door switches. Nothing I read mentioned a second fuse. Tested and it to had blown. Ordered another one. Popped them in. Done.

plastic grill cover broke in several places
both screw mounts broke off so removal of the grill from the cover was easy.

bent clips that held plastic part of grill to stainless part of grill straight.

tried to separate the two pieces but found that the original pieces were also glued together, made the job more difficult to separate the two.

enter the putty knife, using it between the plastic and the stainless made the job much easier to separate the two.

i didn't scrape off the glue when i put the new plastic grill into the stainless and as a result the two did not fit together and seat as they should have, not the fault of the replacement part, entirely my fault.

everything worked ok but i know that if the glue had been removed, they would have fit perfectly.

replacement part was perfect

Wolud not heat or cook anything.
Instead of telling you, i have question do you have any instructions on how to do the repair. It would have helped save time on the repair.

This job took longer then it should have, becasue I did not start right in the begining. I did figure it out quickly after the wrong start.

You were a big help in picking the right part to correct the problem. You should be able to help with the repair. Thank You

Door close wasnt registering and the microwave wouldn't turn on.
I looked up a YouTube video of someone with a similar over the oven microwave. That helped me get into the area behind the control panel where the door switches are. I checked the springs and the cam rocker? The thing that actually hits the button on the switch when the door closes. They were in good condition so I assumed the door switch was bad. There are two so I just purchased one figuring (hoping) that only one was bad. And lo and behold only one was bad. Bing bam boom. Put it all back together and I'm set. Not too difficult. Took a week of work because it takes like 50 days to ship. My kitchen looked like a hurricane after image because of all the parts scattered everywhere.

The 2 molded plastic holes that accept the bolts broke.
A Phillips screwdriver was all that was needed. A poor design by KitchenAid for only having (2) bolts holding this stainless steel vent grille in a plastic housing, oh well. Don't lean or pull against it to hard or it will most likely break again.

The problem seemed to be in the construction of the grille--too much weight pulling on two screws mounted in plastic. Replacing the part was easy. The question is will it break again since the weak plastic parts have not been strengthened in the replacement grille.
Mounted the new part and screwed it in.

Glass of burned out bulb broke leaving metal part in socket in microwave hood combo
Replaced bulb by: 1 pulling plug on microwave to make sure not hot - no power; 2 used needle nose pliers with head part about same size that fit inside of socket; 3 opened pliers and held firm against broken metal part; keeping pressure of pliers against broken metal part of light bulb, slowly unscrewed the broken part from socket using firmly held opened pliers. The rest was a cinch...just screwed in new light bulb, plugged in microwave and viola - there was light once again.

Stirrer cover had burn through
the burn thru was probably because stirrer motor was not turning, Unplug the microwave .freed the motor up bu manually turning. temporary fix. The cover is held up with small push pin clips. Just pry the cover off with a screw driver or other flat tool. Scrape offf the old silicone. There are two covers in the Kit. you just need 1. Remove the old clips for the roof of the microwave, put a bead of silicone on the new cover where the old was and secure the new cover with the push pins into the clips .

The display kept asking me to close the door, even though the door was closed. The interior light stayed on.
I used a Google search to show how to access the area behind the front panel. There was a folded paper copy with a schematic and wiring diagram in that space. Then I used a multi-meter to determine which of the THREE micro-switches was causing the problem. I called your help line and ordered a replacement switch. The switch was delayed in transit so your agent credited me with the cost of shipping.

When the part arrived, it had three terminals instead of two as shown in the on-line picture but that did not cause any difficulty in using it. It took about 20 minutes to remove and replace the old switch.

All seems to be working well now.

Finding which of the THREE switches was the problem was the most difficult part of the repair. All three "clicked" but the defective one did not click as easily. It needed to be depressed more than the door latch can would provide. Old age?

NOISY TURNTABLE DRIVE MECHANISM
RATHER EASY. PHILIPS SCREWDRIVER, TORX DRIVER (FOR THE 2 SCREWS SECURING THE GEARMOTOR ITSELF), VERY SMALL SCREWDRIVER TO ASSIST IN DEPRESSING THE DETENTS ON ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS AT THE MOTOR. IF THE MICROWAVE IS ABOVE A STOVE UNIT, IT'S A GOOD IDEA TO PLACE A TOWEL DOWN ON THE STOVETOP TO CATCH ANY WAYWARD SCREW IF ONE HAPPENS TO GET AWAY. (VOICE OF EXPERIENCE)
