WFW8300SW0 Whirlpool Washer - Instructions

The water pump housing was leaking due to some pre-existing damage and leaking on the floor. The repairman wanted 60.00 just to show up. I purchased a replacement pump from PartsSelect.com and installed it myself by taking off the bottom front panel (two screws on the bottom and unclamping the two hoses from the pump and the two screws holding the pump to the frame and then unsnapping the wiring coupler from the old pump. I pulled the old pump out through the front of the machine. I then installed the new pump and replaced the front cover. I saved myself a lot of money and everything went smoothly! The machine works great.

Remove outer retaining ring by pulling spring clip located at bottom of the seal. Push the bellows into the tub. Loosen the inner retaining ring clip (located on the left, facing the front of the machine) with a phillips screwdriver and guide the ring out. Remove the old bellows. Put in the new part with the tab on top and the drain holes on the bottom. Reinstall the rings. Kind of tedious but not complicated.

Repair was easy the hardest part was taking the access cover off. Three screws held the cover in place and the Electronic Control Unit was held in place by a plastic clip along with a total of eight (8) electric connectors. Anyone with any knowledge of how to use a screwdriver can complete this repair.

Open the bottom screws (hex-screw driver. remove riongs with pliers. use pan to remove excess water remained in pipes. pull to the right and remove. easier than it seems,

I followed the description on this site, my machine was slightly different, but the basic procedure was the same. The tip to apply a small amount of the liquid soap to the bellows was useful to ease installation. Make sure the holes in the bottom of the bellows align with the drain in the bottom of the washer. The portion of the bellows that attaches to the main body via the adjustable clamp can be done by a single person with two hands. The portion that attaches to the front panel with the spring-wire band is a four hand job. Position the bellows, attach / position the wire-band with the spring portion on the bottom. Starting at the top get your helper to hold it in position, using needle nose pliers stretch the last bit of the wire-band into final position.

Remove the plastic caps from the rear of the machine. Insert the locking bolts into the slots. There is a clip on the bolts with a corresponding hole in the outside edge of the slots, this tells you exactly where to place the bolt. In my case i used a large flat head screw driver to move the drum into alignment with the bolt by inserting the driver into a different slot and prying the drum into place. When i had the first bolt started and about hald way in, i did the diagonly opposite bolt, got that one about half way in then did th elast two. i did not need to pry much on these two as the drum was no lined up fairly well with the bolts. I tightened them up and moved the washer. You do NOT need to call a maytag agent to come out and do this.

i removed back of washer. slide out control board. disconected wireing harness.replace simpel

Removed bottom panel, removed hoses and pump. Reinstalled in reverse order.

once i figure out how to take off front panel it went quite smoothly also my wife gave me a hand putting the bellows on,her fingers were smaller so it was alittle easier for her

I would recommend to remove the front loader door first. Then remove the clamp that holds the front of the bellow to the washer, Remove the top panel and then the front panel. Remove the band that holds the back of the bellow to the washer. Reverse the process to install the bellow. It helps to apply a little soapy water to make it easy to put the bellow on the track for both the front and back. It also helps to have four hands. Hope you have a friend or significant other.

I pulled the washer away from the wall to comfortably access the back panel. I then removed about a dozen 1/4 drive screws. I had to remove all the screws in the panel and the screws and cross brace directly behind the drum in order to install the new belt. Note: it will seem like the belt is too small when in reality it is perfect. There is no type of adjustments or tensioners that I found so you need to place the belt on the motor pulley correctly and then walk the belt on the drum pulley. Make sure the belt is lined up with the marks on the drum pulley that the original belt had left. You may need to attempt to walk the belt on 2 or 3 times before it finally goes on. If you have any mechanical knowledge you will find this to be a gravy job.

Turned water supply off ,took the top of washing machine off, took water valve out installed new 1unit worked ok

Removed the old pump and installed the new one. Most difficulty came from the fact that the dryer is on top of the washer and the washer is inside a plastic pan that has a 2 inch lip which made it difficult to remover the front panel.

Everything worked perfectly---thanks to the suggestion of your call center agent. She suggested that since the replacement door handles were no longer available, I should consider repainting them--it worked like a charm. Please tell her she was a life saver. We rent that house in Fl and my returning tenants had complained about the discoloring refer handles. Thank you
