Heating element
Took the old unit out with a small nut driver real fast. Be careful the inside of the oven is small and the metal is thin it will dent if you lean to hard. But that is not the story the story is how fast my replacement part arrived I ordered on a Monday evening before Christmas and arrived on Wednesday. I had the part in no time. Sears was back ordered (Just Saying) I don't think closing another store will help that. I will try to fix anything but you have to have the part!!!!

the original bake element actually caught on fire, so after searching other sites, my best deal was on partselect.
We removed the old element, which had actually burned in two, and installed the new one. I was extremely impressed with the ease of ordering from this site and very surprised at how fast it was shipped to us. This will be my go-to place for any other parts I might need.

oven Bake Element burned up and broke
this bake element has two special Hex style screws, securing it in place, but a nut driver worked just as well. remove the baking racks, and then loosen the two hex screws. slowly pull the element out of the back wall and then disconnect the electric leads. reinstall by doing then the opposite action. could not have be simpler.

Bake Element Out
Turned off the breaker, did not unplug the oven (this should be done as the prongs had residual heat). Removed the plates that held the element in place, detached the element from the wire, attached new element to the wire (the new element was slightly different the wire did not slide down as far as the original). Reattached plates, turned breaker back on, tested oven, voila - done.

Burnt out baking element
My husband and I removed the burnt baking element. Then, I unplugged the range and removed the screws on the back panel of the oven. Secondly, the new element was placed in the oven and the electrical cords were connected. The only problem that I had was trying to place a safety bracket on one of the electrical wires. I did not have the correct type of backet so I used electrical taped to avoid and electrical discharge from occurring. I feel this is the reason the old baking element caught on fire. It was only two years old. We rent and the range is part of the appliances in the house. The oven is working very well.
