Would not spin during spin cycle.
After watching the repair video by partselect.com I followed the directions exactly. It turned out to be a piece of cake. I found out that partselect.com has many, many do it your self repair videos on youtube.com. I intend to use them for future repairs. Thank you partselect.com.

Motor Coupling failed after 20 years!
Determined based on some Internet searches that the part that we needed was the motor coupling; washer would not spin or agitate. Once I figured out how to removed the cover (by the way, one of the guys at an appliance store told me how to do it), and reviewing the video on your website, I removed the two screws and four clips, dropped the motor, inserted the parts and put it back together - all in about 15 or 20 minutes. It was easy and clean and the washer worked again. Hopefully go for another 5-10 years. Thanks.

Would not spin out all the water from clothes
Similar to the youtube repair video, followed it mostly. This model has a different plug in set up on top where the wiring is. Just unplugged a different plug in a different location. The other difference is that I did a lot of dusting and vacuuming of inside parts and around motor. Also used some spray on rust converter on some rust spots then coated those areas with spray paint. Also where wire harness hooks to the frame I taped up a longer section of the wire to keep the wires together so they could move around and not be damaged. The actual repair took about a half hour, but took more time taking the washer outside on porch then back into the house. Out side repair is better because a significant amount of water came out of the washer and drain hose when we tilted it on the back to remove motor and transmission. Just follow the youtube video instructions and most people should have little or no problems doing the job.

Upper agitator assembly quit working
Removed cap from top of agitator, then used socket and extension to remove bolt which attaches agitator to shaft. There was soap residue accumulated on upper and lower agitator so I decided to remove that residue first. It took about 30 minutes to remove the soap residue with liquid detergent and a dishwashing sponge. Next replaced the agitator directional cogs per the video and installed the new washer on the bolt. After the lower agitator was back in place, the new thrust spacer was installed and lubricated with silicone grease, then the upper agitator assembly was re-installed per the vido. Put the cap back on the agitator and now the old Kenmore is running like new again. Before discarding your old washer, try to fix it. The new "energy saver" machines use as much water and run twice as long to do the same job. With the videos and troubleshooting aids provided by PartSelect you should find that most Whirlpool and Kenmore washers are not very hard to repair.

Agitator didn't spin but everything else worked.
The youtube explanation on how to repair was great, especially the instruction to lift up on the bluish plastic ring (to detach the softener dispenser), and not to tighten the bolt too much when reassembling matters.

top half of the 2-part agitator slipping (not turning) due to stripped teeth on these cogs.
removed the softener dispenser, gently pried off the top with screw driver, loosen nut and lift off the unit holding the cogs. On our (Kenmore, series 90) there was a small retaining ring to hold the cogs in place. Removed retaining ring (no tools), and cogs (one at a time). Replace each old cog with the new one, being careful that it's not upside down or backwards. reassemble. test. rejoice! This $3 part plus $7 S&H - saved a $100 house call from the appliance repair man.. YouTube & PartSelect = super Combo! Thanks!

The tub would not spin during the spin cycle. I diagnosed that the door switch was functioning. And through some reading on the internet, found out it was the motor coupling. I replaced the clutch assembly strictly as preventative maintenance.
I am not even going to attempt to explain. The videos that were brand specific are all anyone needs to complete any repair. They are very well made. And easy to follow. Thank you for saving me a repair call!

Chlothes were coming out wet at the end of the cycle.
Parts select gives you the top solutions for the problem you are having. This suggested a clutch, and upon looking at mine I could see it was displaced. I watched the instructional video, and it was spot on. It told me how to from beginning to end and it worked out perfectly. I spent about an hour of my time, spent $38, and my machine is fixed. Thank you Parts select for the free video, I couldn't have done it without it.

top agitator not working
The top agitator was not working. The top of the agitator should only work in one direction. Since it wasn't, the pawls (cogs) on the top agitator were worn. In order to repair, you need to take the top of the agitator off. Remove the fabric softener container from the top of the agitator. It should pull off. Then, remove the clear plastic cover. (clear plastic cover will have an 'o' ring on it.) Below the cover will be a 7/16" bolt holding the agitator to the washer shaft. Pull the entire agitator from the stainless steel shaft. You will need to separate the top of the agitator from the bottom of the agitator. It is necessary to separately order and replace the thrust spacer, grease, and bolt. All the other necessary parts are in the Agitator repair kit which is also necessary when ordering parts. The agitator repair kit will come with a diagram for assembly, otherwise reassembly is the opposite of disassembly. It took longer to write this installation instructions than it was to do the actual repairs.

Top agitator stopped working, teeth needed to be replaced.
Followed instructions supplied plus use of u-tube video. The job could have been done in less time if I had a long ratchet to begin with. Fairly easy job for a woman to do.

water leaking from Water Inlet Valve hot side only
removed 2 machine screws a top of back plate with nut-driver, removed two Phillips screws holding control panel on with screwdriver, lifted control panel out of the way to get to tension bands holding back on and removed with small pry-bar. Pry open the back enough to remove electrical connections from Water Inlet Valve. Remove machine screw with nut-driver that holds Water Inlet Valve and slide valve out. Use pliers to remove hose from Water Inlet Valve. Reverse process for install.
