Cam holder for gasket retainer broken off; refrigerator cabinet light switches failed
(1) Gasket holder is quite simple. Remove snap-on trim to expose gasket. Identify upper and lower clips (white 1" long) that hold gasket holder into frame of fridge door. Gently pry out / remove with flat-headed screwdriver. Gasket holder will slide out frpm the gasket. Replace - make sure you get the cam facing the correct way at the top of the holder. This is a pretty easy repair, 20 minutes beginning to end. (2) RHS light switch failed - replaced both -- door hinge cap removes w/ a single appliance screw - switches are plug-in to the wiring assembly, and snap into place in the hinge cap.

Why would the “open door” alarm work but not the lights from the same switch?
For model number 3007E

Hi Rob, Thank you for your question. If the lights are not coming on in the refrigerator, you will need to test the switch to make sure it is working correctly. If it is not, you will need to replace it. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

French door with bottom freezer. Top lights failed and ended up replacing both door triggers in upper corners. Got one in, lights came on and door open warning came on, until I closed the door and opened it, and they all stopped. Replaced the other side switch, no action at all, no lights, no alarm. Maybe 30 minutes to change both, so no big issue, except they don't work. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hello Dennis, Thank you for your inquiry. If you have already replaced the light bulbs, then you could have an issue with the wiring or with the control board. Check the wiring for any loose connections or visible damage and check the sockets as well. Examine the board for any visible damage. Good luck with your repair.

i cant release the push button springs ether side of the switch and also the electrical connections . is there a special tool to do this?
For model number LFD22860st
PartSelect logo
Hi Max, thank you for contacting us. No special tools are needed to replace it. You will need to use the phillip's screwdriver and small flathead screwdriver. There are the couple of tabs on the sides of the harness connector that you need to release using a small flat flathead screwdriver and pull the wiring harness to unplug it. Then you will need to squeeze two sides on the switch that are the locking tabs squeeze and push up, so you can pull it to remove. We hope this solves your problem!

The refrigerator lights will not turn off. I'm a 70++ woman with some repair skills. Is this easy enough for me to replace or should i call a repairman? Also, do you have a video showing how to make this repair. Thanks.
For model number LFX21960ST

Hello Joyce, Thank you for your inquiry. Use a small screwdriver or putty knife to pry the switch out of the wall of the fridge. Disconnect the wires from the old switch (you may need a twist tie to hold the wires out so they don't fall back inside the fridge wall). Connect the wires to the new switch and re-insert back into the wall of the fridge. Although we do not have a repair video for this exact part number, I have included a link to a similar switch to assist you. Although the switch is at the side in the video, the principle for removing it is the same. Hope this helps! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2juGyjXFpyk&list=PL3EB33F2356EAFCD4&index=38

We purchased this fridge off of facebook yardsale. The fridge continuously makes very loud noises. almost like an accelerating and then stopping sound when the icemaker is turned on. the fridge was turned on for over 30 hours and only made about 20 cubes of ice. for that reason, i turned the icemaker off to see if the noises would stop. the noises continued continuously over night, it sounds like its coming from the back lower left side of the fridge. sounds like its struggling or caught on something.. the freezer feels cold and the fridge portion seems cold as well. although it did take over 2 days for the top fridge portion to actually feel cold like it should. someone said the compressor may be bad. but i really am not sure. it could just be the fans? thank you.

Hello Ashley, thank you for your question. Yes, it could be an issue with the condenser fan. I would recommend pulling the fridge out to check the back area of the unit where the fan is to see if the noise is coming from there. Make sure the area is clean of any dust or dirt as well. I hope this helps!
