The Dishwasher door counter balance mechanism was broken.
First remove the two screws holding the kick plate at the bottom. Next I pried off the 2 plastic bulb access caps on the sides in front and removed the screws holding the machine between the cabinets.
I pulled out the washer as far as I could without having to shut off the water and remove the water line or the power supply. I pulled out the broken link assembly consisting of a nylon cord with plastic end pieces that connected on one end to the tension spring and on the other to the cantilever mechanism on the door.
The difficult task was getting the long spring to hook onto its position at the back of the machine when I could only pull the machine out several inches as it was held by the shortness of the water and power lines. I used the tang end of a long file shoved inside one end of the spring as a holder while I moved the spring back into position and turned it until it caught hold and snapped into place. Once that was done I was able to pull the cord (which had one end attached to the spring before I had positioned it) using a pair of pliers and a great deal of effort enough to hook the plastic end over the hooked part attached to the door. I pushed it back and replaced the side screws and the kick plate.

.No power to the dishwasher.
Turned off electrical at the curcit breaker box. Removed 6 screws releasing the control panel, Cut the 2 wires 1/2 in. behind the old fuse block. Removed the old fuse and wire harness, connected the pld wires to the new fuse and wire harness, secured the new fuse in place, replaced tha control panel with the 6 screws, turned on the breaker and the job was finished. Tried the dishwasher and it worked fine. Compared to the last Whirlpool repairman handled repair I saved approximately $160.00 in labor alone. This entire repair took me about 25 minutes. Another thing that made this repair nice was that I received my part from Partselect.com within 30 hours after placing my order.

I heard a loud SNAP and the door would no longer stay in a half opened position.
I viewed the online video where the installation procedures were presented. Removal of the dishwasher from the counter was very easy since it was retained in place by two small screws attaching the top of the appliance to the underside of the counter. The appliance could then be pulled out into the kitchen sufficently to reach the springs on the lower sides. A thermal insulation blanket covered the appliance and had to be lifted to work on the lower side of the dishwasher. One spring was adrift beneath the appliance and its detachment was the loud SNAP that I heard. The spring was easily recovered and reattached to the rear of the appliance and then then working one side at a time I first removed the old parts and reinstalled the door balance link to replace the broken cord. I then changed out the other side to complete the job.

Broken wheel from top rack roll assembly
Watched the Partselect.com video, made this easy to understand. Have to access from the outside of the dishwasher cabinent, which meant pulling the unit from under the counter. Something I'd rather not have to do - because it's a pain getting it position back in place and tighened down. Would suggest that if one of the four wheel assembly is bad, replace them all at the same time. Will cost around $100, hardly seems worth it, but having a service tech come in probably costs $200+, for something so simple to do.

Bearings on motor froe
Removed the motor and installed the new one. Dishwasher works like new. The old motor was in vary good condition if the bearings and seal could be replaced. It is a shame there is not a place to send them for re-manufacture rather than salvage. The cost for new material and labor to produce a new one must be greater than re-manufacture.
