Assumed the entire top of the range would have to be lifted off. Removed the three screws inside the top of the over door and then noticed the two screws holding the dish around the burner. They were tight and required WD-40 and then a sharp tap and came off.
Important: Notice the direction your old igniter is plugged into the wire. It is not clear and can go on either way.

Called GE for part number crossover from gray to black and asked for an email quote. Called Parts Select for pricing, which was alot lower! Shipping took five days and less then $8.00 buck....now mama's happy!!!! Thanks for great frendly service from Mike in California.

Three were simple screw out and replace with a nut driver. The warming burner had a smaller opeining which was too large for the nut driver. Had to remove shielding aroound it first. Simple, job. My mother did the last one.

First I elevated range top, then removed cracked electride from connector pin. Installed new electrode and lowered range top and all was fine.

replace parts and plug in wire harness as you go.....clean up old seal area on burner bowl and stove top...install new seals.....done.....saved $400 in repair labor or $1200 for new stove top.....

took me a a while to find my problem. One burner would not spark to ignite gas burner. From Part Select website I noticed the part that was the problem from the parts diagram. I did not realize it was related to ignition until I saw that. Easy and cheap to fix after that.

I was washing the knob on my gas counter tops and broke 2 of them. I had to order 2 new ones. I will be very careful from now on with my removing them to be washed.

The repair was simple and easy. The ordering process with PartSelect was equally easy and painless. I would order with them again if the need arised.

It was so easy.I removed the old part with the new with pliers. Voila/// it worked.

took cook top out for new counters and stipped cooktop down to bassic parts. cleaned everything and reassembled with new parts and paints.

Began by removing the front panel where the range handles are located. There were 7 screws located under the panel which required opening of the oven hood. All of this removal was a waste of time, because the range top was on hindges. The only thing holding ithe range top down was the accumulated grease and oil along the edges. I used a screwdriver to sperate the range panel. There were side supports to hold the the top up, like a car hood support. Replacing the electrode was a snap after that. Overall, it took less than 30 mins but it would have taken less than 10 if I hadn't removed the front panel.

Remove grates,pans and disk. Remove allen screws at each burner. Take a flat blade screwdriver and press in on tabs on each side of front of stove to depress keepers and lift top up. Remove wire, and keeper on bottom of electrode. Reverse for install.

i removed the cover over hole that holds the orifice used a 7mm nut driver with butyl rubber tape stuffed inside nut driver, this stuff is sticky and holds orifice in place while positioning over hole.total time about 3 minutes. they worked perfectly.

There were 3 ? Types of black burner dishes and 3 types of burner caps. The information I collected did not hint about the different sizes. We sent back 2 caps for the proper ones. Meantime 3 of the dishes were on backorder. I installed the one dish I had. Later the 3 backorder dishes arrived. I began to install them when I discovered I needeed more than one size. I am a retired aerospace engineer. I had to use my file and hammer to fit experiences to make up for my parts ordering deficiency. The new dishes, mounting holes, were different than the one I had previously installed . So in order not to return them and wait an additional few weeks , I filed the mounting holes sufficient to be able to mount them. Then I put the next part on and discovered that it did not fit the new location of the igniter . I filed the approx 1/2" dia hole from round to a "d"configuration on 3 parts , that allowed the igniter to function in two of the new locations . The fourth and smallest burner required an additional 1/4" spacer to move the gas supply riser closer tothe igniter. The burners are all working as new. No fire hazards. My wife does not know the goofs I made. I had to use some inventive methods and I'm still her hero. I would caution all di it yourself people to become very familiar with the parts they need. They may all look the same to the novice but there are slight differences that should require replacement and could take away your hero status.
