I cant seem to control the heat on the bigger burners. It wants to be on high no matter where i have the knob turned to.

Hi Tim, thank you for your question. There are a couple of parts that could cause this issue specifically. You will need a multi meter to be able to test the parts. The first part you will want to check is your radiant element. It should be reading between 0 - 120 ohms to be working correctly. The other part to check would be your infinite (or surface burner) switch. When you remove that part from the appliance, connect each probe from your multi meter to the prongs and then turn the switch to an on position. If you get no continuity then the switch is the issue. The top element of the oven stay's on. It will not shut off unless i unplug the stove.

One of the dual elements on our stove is not heating. Can i assume the element needs to be replaced? Or, could it be a different part?

Hello JoAn, thank you for your question. If one of your electric stove top burners isn’t heating, it could be a bad burner, or a faulty switch. To test the switch, unplug the range and turn on the stove burner. Remove the wire from the H1 terminal. Set the tester to RX-1 and place the probes on the H1 and H2 terminals. Replace the switch if the tester reading doesn’t change. Part number PS2003583. If the switch is good, replace the burner. Part number PS11759488. We hope this helps.

Keep in mind that a self-clean cycle can put your oven out-of-commission for anywhere from half an hour to six hours depending on the model, release burning odors or fumes into the kitchen, or even short a thermal fuse or burn out a heating element if too much heat builds up. First, I unplugged the oven. Then, I removed the two screws that hold the element in place. After that, I gently pulled the element toward the front of the oven until the wires were exposed. ... Read more new element back into the screw holes and screwed the new element in place. When I plugged the oven back into the wall I heard a pop and thought I'd blown up the oven! Turns out the breaker popped...after fixing the breaker, I turned the oven on and the element worked just fine. I highly recommend PartSelect.com for their fast shipping and great products. Turned the breaker off, I removed 2 screws securing the range top to the range, opened the top and secured it in the up position, Removed the 2 screws securing the element ,one at a time I swapped the quick connectors from the old element to the new and repeated the process in reverse.
