the ice maker failed to make ice.
Researched the part and the fridge. Turned off the power, left the water on. Opened the freezer door and pulled the ice tray straight out. Used a mirror and flashlight to locate screws and tabs. Took the screw out, tilted the old ice maker about 20 degrees away from the wall of the freezer and pulled down on it to release it from the nylon tabs. Unhooked the electric wiring harness. Switched out parts that were reused, plugged in wiring harness, and installed the new ice maker. Make sure you get the water tube back in the hole of the new ice maker. clcked the the new unit in placed reinstalled the screw, reinstalled the ice dispenser and in less than an hour ice began flowing.

Ice maker making blobs of ice
Removed the old ice maker. Video showed clips holding ice maker in the Freezer. Maytag had 3 screws. Removed the old one added the new one. Nothing! Took it out and tried it again? Pinched the hose in the back did not see it. Took it out again. Realized the rubber hose had froze up. Turned off water supply removed the Rubber hose from back of freezer thawed it out. Put ice make back in place. NOTHING! Told wife I would wait overnight for it to make ice if it didnt, I would put old one back in to be sure it was a defective part. 4 hrs later, wife heard ice fall in the tray. Wished instructions would have said would take time for ice maker to kick in. Works like a dream.

Revised direction of inlet for water/fill tube
Side by side refrigerators are tough to get two arms inside the freezer side (and do much work) especially to unlatch the power connect. The water tube on this old refrigerator feeds from the back so I took a pair of kitchen shears and made a new opening in the back of the catch basin. Sealed the original opening. Don't know if that was necessary. The video was a big help for this parts change. Much easier than expected. G Keen

Ice on freezer floor
I followed the video on Part Select which covered everything in detail. The repair itself was unplug the old Adaptive Defrost Timer and plug in the new one. Reassemble and done. When removing the temperature area, just be careful of sliding it out. When reassembling, make sure the wires are out of the way of the temperature gears. Other than that, piece of cake. I also installed a new defrost heater coil.

Leaking icemaker/leaking water dispenser
I also ordered a solenoid valve which solved the water dispenser problem. The vidio presentation on your website plus the personal experiences enabled me to easily install the icemaker which solved the leaking icemaker problem. Two small surprises, I thought the electrical wire plugged into the rear of the refrigerator and I didn't know that I would have to cut out part of the icemaker to accomodate for the refil tube. No problem on both surprises. Thanks

Ice maker had been overflowing into tray
Removed ice maker.
Bottom freezer made access a tad awkward.
New unit did not come with wiring harness, or wire rod that activates cycle, or the front cover, which required transferring those items from old unit. Instructions on internet did not address this.
Installed new unit.

The Ice Maker Wouldn't Dispense Ice
First we ordered a new solenoid. . . The little piece that opens and closes whenever you push the button to dispense ice. That definitely needed to be replaced, and it was easy to do. However, that didn't fix the problem, so we looked and looked at the assembly and decided that a spring was missing. We ordered the spring, and when it arrived, we found that it matched exactly one that was already on the assembly. :-) Not the problem. Thirty minutes later we figured it out,. The diagrams at part select were not helpful with this. It was a matter of figuring out how the magnetic weight fit into the assembly. That's all it was! Now we have an extra spring for the future.

Failure to defrost coil
The new part looked exactly like the old part which some said the old part had no cover. This new one did. As with some, it was not necessary to pry with a screw driver to remove the top shielding. It was only necessary to push backwards and it came down. The rest was just a matter of removing two screws holding the defrost/timer to the top, replace it (re-install cable), and screw it back to the top, replace top, and set the thermastat. Finished!
