HSM25GFTASA Hotpoint Refrigerator - Instructions

We used partselect troubleshooting appilication to figure out what was most likely causing the problem and what part would fix it. The suggested part was the freezer's defrost thermostat and the probability that this would fix it was 52%! The diagnosis made sense because when we emptied the freezer to see the part, the coils were frozen solid with a thick layer of ice. We thawed the ice and the refrigerator worked fine for a day and a half at which point the ice was back and the refrigerator was warm again. We ordered the part. It came in 2 days. We snipped two wires and removed the old part, twisted the wires of the new one in place, taped it up and it worked! Fast, easy, cheep! $8 For the part, about the same for shipping and no $70 service call. Selectparts is bookmarked for "house repair"!

Watched your tutorial on repair before i started , did not rush and layed parts out inorder that they were taken off to make it easier to remember steps for re-installing.

I just followed the directions given and watched the video provided on line from Parts Select. The only disadvantage is my size trying to get my arms into the freezer space. A woman could do it much easier because of their size. The freezer is working fine now and maintaing temperature required or specified. If necessary I'll use this site again. Very easy not difficult

Googled how to replace the door seal, ordered parts and replaced the door seal flapper. The video on partselect was not correct for this GE model. However a simple diagran showed you simply remove the control panel directly (pops off) to provide access to the panel. Remove the 4 screws holding the panel, replace the door seal, and reassemble.

I replaced ice dispenser solenoid which stuck due to the moisture causing it to rust I do recommend changing the rubber door flap also which allows the cold air to leak out therefore causing the solenoid to form rust

Should have had an idea that it froze up When use of a generator on/ off use for five days And dirty condenser Their should have been a trouble shooting examples

Unplugged the refrigerator first....then on the inside of the fridge, I popped the temp sensor cover off (upper LH side) and exposed the old sensor. I snipped off the old sensor about 3" down from the end and connected the new sensor (which I trimmed down to about 3" long) with some heat shrink wire nuts/connectors. Let the fridge run for a day or so and confirmed the problem was solved! Oh yeah, there was no way to tell the 2 wires apart (power vs. ground) on the sensor. However there was a manufacturer's stamp on the wires. So note the orientation of the text and mark one of the wires with a sharpie on both the old and new sensor before trimming. This will give you a reference for which wires to connect when adding the new sensor to the old wires.

Removed back panel and checked water lines which were empty. Followed booklet instructions for problem solving first. Water Valve appeared to be hot. Ordered new part which came in record time. Removed water lines and connected new part which was fairly easy. Replaced filter and still no water coming up but only going down to new part. Opened freezer door thinking reservoir frozen and left door open for 20 minutes which caused reservoir to defrost itself. Button now works.

Read instructions,unplugged refrigator from wall socket, removed screws,remove cover, unplugged cables, removed old board, placed in new board, connected cables, put on cover,replaced screws,,,,plugged refrigator into wall socket. so far all is well.
