Ice Door not closing properly
I did the repair, but apparently there's an Ice Door Kit with Bracket ( Part #8201756 - PartSelect Number PS990120 ) that has a metal bracket that will actually fix the problem with the broken plastic that holds the pin in.

Unit stopped making Ice
Found my unit had stopped making ice. I did 20 min. of search on the internet and found this site. I was going to just buy the whole ice maker unit, but after reading a bit more found that the majority was just the motor assembly. I ordered it, 2 days later it was at my front door. I pulled the ice maker unit out, took off the motor assembly, and low and behold a small whit ppiece of plastic fell out. I replaced the motor assembly re installed the ice maker and in one hour I had ice again. As far as ease to do this job from 1 being hard and 10 being super easy, I would rate this a 10+. If you have this kind of problem, I would not waste your money on a repair man, 150.00 service call, Hell no. 65 bucks and your done. Before your wife can make you a pot of coffee this can be out and back in. I don't want to take money away from the appliance repair men but some repairs can be a DIY project. Nut driver and phillips screw driver is all you need.Hope this helps ya.

needed new water filter
shipping was faster than promised. Installation was as easy as replacing a light bulb. Make sure you turn off the ice maker before removing old filter - this could save you a big mess. Also, make sure you run about a gallon of water through the system before you start using the dispenser.

Ice Dispensor would not operate or turn on
The retaining pins, which are part of the control bracket, that hold the micro switch that powers on the ice dispensor had broken, allowing the micro switch to fall away from actuator paddle. I replace the entire control bracket which holds the 2 micro switches, one for ice dispensing and one for water.

Ice door assembly broken, freezing up ice maker
I removed the outside ice door panel with two flat head screw drivers inserted in the slots at the bottom of the panel. You simply pry out until the bottom releases and then you push it up gently to release the top. I then removed the hex head screws that held the outside wire panel and the switches, at this time you need to remove the old plunger that is connected to the top of the ice door assembly. I then disconnected the old heat strip and removed the hex screw that held the ice chute at the bottom. Then I removed the pin and spring that held the ice door assembly at the top. Replaced the parts with new ones provided in the kit. The ice door is no longer freezing up, nor is the ice bucket in the freezer. The freezer is now back to the right temperature, without having to be set on high

Ice maker sounding like it was going to release ice, but not doing so.
This was the easiest repair I have ever done. Don't waste your money calling a repairmain for this one. Unplug from electrical outlet, and turn off water supply. I first removed the ice bucket to give myself the room needed to remove ice maker. Then I loosened to two top nuts holding the icemaker and removed the bottom one. Pulled the icemaker away from the freezer wall and disconected the power supply. Removed unit from freezer and removed the three screws holding control motor assembly in place, gently removed icemaker control assembly. Secured with the three screws, placed unit back in freezer making sure water inlet was in place and reconected power supply. Slid unit onto the top two nuts and tightened and replaced bottom screw. Turned on water supply and reconected to electrical supply. Easier then pie.

popping sound when door opened beyond 90 degrees
I would never attempt an appliance repair but after watching the video instructions for installing this part I decided to give it a try even though I'm dangerous with a screwdriver. After retrieving a nutdriver from my $39 handy dandy tool set, it was a piece of cake. Upper hinge cover, hinge, door removal, comes off in a matter of minutes. Only problem surfaced when I went to install my new cam in the lower hinge. It didn't fit. It was actually for the upper door hinge. I reinstalled the lower plastic piece (whatever it's called), tightened it down, put the door back on (you can do it yourself if it's the refrig. side) and popping sound was gone. I guess the bottom hinge plastic piece was probably loose but you can't tighten it unless you remove the door. I now have a upper door cam in my drawer ready when it fails and will replace it without hesitation.

Icemaker stopped making ice
Removed the icemaker assembly, which was simple to remove. Once the assembly was removed, I unscrewed the motor housing and replaced it. I then reinstalled the assembly and closed the door. It did not making ice immediately and it took about 30 minutes to start.

Ice maker stopped working
followed a movie on the internet. I'm 77 and I felt like it was very easy. My wife of 51 years gave me a round of applause when the first ice cube popped out.

Our ice maker has not worked for years. My husband tried to repair it back then and now we know that he actually broke it. On the front of motor control there is a dial that says "DO NOT ROTATE'. It means do not rotate.
He removed the front of the motor box. He then took the motor panel off and replaced it with the new one! So easy!! We have been buying ice or getting it from a friend that has a commercial ice maker. I could not believe it was that simple and the delivery was unbelievable. I ordered the part either Thursday or Friday and FedEx delivered it Saturday! Thank you so much. Now I have all the ice I need!!!
