Well I have to say as a HVAC contractor for 32 years this was a very easy repair for me or anyone who is not a HVAC contractor such as myself. I always like to do a little research on any repairs that I have not performed myself and the instructions and video that was available on this web site was awesome. I did this repair in less them 15 minutes removing parts and reassembly of new part. I did let ice bin sit out for about 10 minutes after I removed ice to de thaw and reach room temperature to keep from cracking frozen plastic parts. The new ice auger drum was a very nice perfect fit and was made of a much better quality plastic then the OEM that was replaced. My mother was very pleased as I did this repair for her at her home and she watched me do the repair and she is 74 years old and she commented that she could have done this repair herself after watching me and she also watched video from this web site after I mentioned it to her. I would highly recommend that if anyone needs parts for there freezer or refrigerator to buy from this web site. The price was much lower then anyplace else I could find and it was shipped to my front door in less then 2 days. I would give this company 5 stars and when I need parts for my refrigerator I will sure stop back here and buy the parts again. Thank You PartSelect and keep up the great job. Ken

Plastic hinge attached to chute door broke

  • Customer: James from Houston, TX
  • Difficulty: Really Easy
  • Time to Complete: 30 - 60 mins
  • Tools Required: Nutdriver, Pliers, Screw drivers

I watched the video showing how to disassemble unit and it showed that there was a heat element inside the chute door under the foam seal that needed to be removed and placed in side the new chute door. I spent about 10-15 minutes trying to salvage the element but the adhesive used would not release and the part was rendered unusable. I called the help line and was told that their instructions on that kit said the heating element was no longer required. I finished putting the kit in and the unit works fine

Ice door would not close

  • Customer: Richard from Springfield, MO
  • Difficulty: A Bit Difficult
  • Time to Complete: 1- 2 hours
  • Tools Required: Pliers, Screw drivers

Ice door would not close thus letting warm air into the freezer compartment. Thinking the spring was broken, I ordered the Ice Door Kit. When it arrived, I dismantled the dispenser and installed the new parts. After installing all the new parts, I found that my problem was the "Y" end of the bracket that holds the spring pin. It was cracked and would not hold the pin. The bracket seemed to be molded into the panel on the outside of the dispenser. To replace the bracket, I would have had to replace the entire outside panel. I decided to repair the bracket and glue the broken piece. I used cyanoacrylate(CA)super glue that I use in model making. Even though that seemed adequate, I decided to drill a small hole through the bracket, perpendicular to the crack, and install a small screw to strengthen the crack. I also applied a little CA to the screw for good measure. It held fast and so far so good!

The repair (replacement) literally takes only a couple minutes. You simply pick up on and remove the broken bin and insert the new one in its place. The "wow" moment was the exceptional customer service I received from PartSelect. I ordered on a Monday around noon (est) and the part arrived the next day. It was a genuine Whirlpool part and an exact fit. This may well be my best on-line ordering experience and I failed to mention your price was about 20% less than Lowes. Thanks again and you won a loyal customer for future appliance needs.

Your web site was great. There was a short step by step video on how to remove and replace the ice door kit and tools required. The only additional tool I used was Blue Tape so I could stabilize the inner control panel out of way onto Door.If I need more appliance parts I now know where I am ordering from!!

Install new water supply tube

  • Customer: Robert from Las Cruces, NM
  • Difficulty: Very Difficult
  • Time to Complete: More than 2 hours
  • Tools Required:

Neither the OEM instructions nor any of the PartSelect videos explained BOTH ends of the tube for my particular appliance. All very thoroughly covered the obvious connection with the water valve from the wall. However, the push valve end for my KitchenAid is supposed to insert into the water filter chassis, which can barely be seen from the back of the appliance, much less reached with any tool. In order to make the repair, one must either remove the water filter chassis (which I attempted unsuccessfully), or put the appliance up on jacks in order to reach the push valve site.

Ice bin auger drum fins broke off from the main shaft, stopping the production of crushed ice.

  • Customer: Billy from Goldsboro, NC
  • Difficulty: Really Easy
  • Time to Complete: 15 - 30 mins
  • Tools Required: Pliers, Screw drivers

Replaced the Ice Bin Auger,I ordered from PartSelect, which had much thicker housing and fins than the original .You remove the clip from the end of the shaft and a nylon nut which is a left hand which is opposite threads from most nuts. Its a good idea to take a picture of how the blades and spacers are ,because if not put back in the same direction their will be no crushed ice.It now works better and quiter than when it was new.

Broken plastic direct drive drum for ice-maker

  • Customer: Kim from Overton, NV
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Time to Complete: 30 - 60 mins
  • Tools Required: Screw drivers, Socket set
  • 0 of 0 people found this instruction helpful
My husband and I followed the instructional video on how to replace the "direct drive drum". We took note of how everything looked prior to dismantling the ice bin. We made sure we had the proper tools and a large flat surface to work on and started taking out the screws. Replaced the new drive drum part and put it all back together. The whole process took approximately 30 minutes and the ice crusher works great now. I'm a happy camper!!

Not making ice

  • Customer: Klaus from Valencia, CA
  • Difficulty: Really Easy
  • Time to Complete: Less than 15 mins
  • Tools Required: Nutdriver

Ordered part#PS2341899, received in 2 days. Unplugged refrigerator and removed ice cube drawer. Then removed shelf above icemaker. Used 1/4 nutdriver to remove 3 screws holding the icemaker in place. Then unplugged electrical harness from icemaker. To install, just do the reverse and job could be completed within 10 to 15 minutes. It is not necessary to turn water off in back of refrigerator. You should have ice cubes within a couple of hours, however it takes about 24 hours to fill the ice drawer. Probably saved over $150 by doing it myself.

Kick Plate Clip Broke

  • Customer: James from Virginia Beach, VA
  • Difficulty: Really Easy
  • Time to Complete: Less than 15 mins
  • Tools Required: Screw drivers

On the left side I unscrewed the screw and replace it with a new one . The right side in had to take s file and file of the rivet. You can use a rivet gun or a metal screw to replaced the clip. Once it is finish open the refrigerator door to see how to line the kick plate into the clip. A piece of cake.
