Loud sqeaking noise
I watched the video from partselect as to how to change the felt seal and drum slides. The disassembly of the top and front of the dryer was easy. I noticed that the slides were all gone and that the top bearing was worn through. I replaced everything and the squeaking noise stopped. The problem is now my dryer vibrates like crazy. Anyone have any tips? Thanks

Dryer would not heat
Originally ordered heating element kit, but decided to replace drum slides and "o"-ring while the dryer was dis-assembled.Replacing the dryer elements was relatively easy-just follow instructions. Replacing the slides and o-ring was very easy, just clip in place. The dryer vent was almost totally clogged and probably the cause of most problems. This took longer than all mechanical repairs as I have a long dryer vent. I suggest cleaning the dryer vent regularly to avoid problem. I used a 4" circular brush and cordless drill to clean the duct. If you have not cleaned your vent in 2-3 years, you will be amazed at the amount of lint build-up. I was very pleased with the price of parts and customer service at Parts-Select, estimate I saved approximately $250-300.

Noise when running
Removed top screws. Removed front panel screws. Removed front panel. Replaced worn slides. Removed drum. Replaced drum bearing and retainer. Cleaned lint from dryer, motor and blower assembly. Replaced light bulb. Door latch was purchased as spare. Inspected heating element. Re -assembled. Dryer now running like new again. I expect to have restring a new element in the near future. I like how the GE dryer comes apart. It is best to replace the slides before they wear all the way through.

Dryer would not turn on
It took a while to diagnose the problem. I finally figured out it was the door switch by pushing it with my finger with the dryer door open and starting the dryer. It would run like that, but the switch was not being pressed in enough by the door. I ordered the switch and I should have been able to replace in about 15 min. But the old switch broke while I was removing it and it fell back inside the unit. So I had to remove the top and the front panel to access the door switch. That's why it took so long. If that had not happened it would have been a much simpler repair.

I broke the door strike on the dryer.
Wife was out of town, visiting family. I broke the door strike by wedging the dryer door between the laundry room door, closed the laundry room door and it snapped the door strike breaking it. I ordered the part, and it shipped fast using the standard shipping, nothing fancy. Grabbed a pair of pliers and pushed the new door strike into place. It snapped right in, fits and works perfect like nothing ever happened. The wife will never know :)

The dryer made a squeaking, squealing sound
I found the repair videos on YouTube for my exact model of dryer and they made the repairs look easy, so I decided to do the troubleshooting and repairs myself. I figured it had to be the glides and/or the belt, and my husband told me he found the felt seal in pieces in the lint trap, so I ordered that part too. He told me he was afraid I would mess up the dryer, but I explained it was already messed up and convinced him to let me try. I followed the steps on the video and it was easy. The glides were warn down to nothing but the belt was fine, so I just replaced the glides and front felt drum seal. I needed a little "man power" to lift the drum to get the front back on, but other than that, a 5'1" middle aged woman did all the repairs herself! Thanks for the videos and the link to your website. You made it a great experience!

Dryer had a terrible squeak when operated
Took dryer apart and quickly found that the front drum bearing (which a teflon slides) were destroyed and the drum was wearing on the "top bearing" which really is part of the front of the dryer holding the drum as it rotates. Disassembly was easy - just basic tools. Difficult part was being careful to disconnect electric wires to door switch and circuit panel. All parts ordered were needed except package of screws was cheap insurance in case I stripped a screw or lost one. Since I had all the parts out, I thoroughly cleaned the dust in the dryer. This is really important and I also oiled the rear drum bearing (bronze bearing) since it was apart. No need to remove drum belt, just tilt drum slightly to see bronze bearing in back. The top bearing, new slides (need both white and green on my model, two of each) went it easily. I also replaced the felt drum seal since I was in there as well. I would highly recommend this repair instead of getting a service man - saved my hundreds of dollars or I probably would have just bought a new dryer. Now, it is good for many more years - hopefully. If you are not mechanically inclined, don't be nervous about this; but get a friend to help. This is a great sit and your YouTube videos make it better!

Squeaking
This is the 2nd time we had to replace the slides. Not a big deal. Removed the top & front of the dyer and replaced the new slides. It's also a good time to vacuum out the inside while you have it apart. Be advised.... Get your tools ready. You'll be receiving your parts quickly. Couldn't believe how fast they arrived!

Had to replace the belt & idler pulley wheel
Now I've replaced the drum bearing slides and the big plastic barring housing which the slides slip into before so had some experience with removing the lid and door. Felt like I know enough to get me state. But never messed with removing the drum. Was nervous but it was a piece of cake removing it. Once the drum was removed access to the idler pulley wheel was easy. Ran into trouble due to the nut holding wheel was not threaded. The nut was more like a cap which I had to pull off, causing some concern. I was able to reuse the same cap but I could see if you damaged it to much when removing could prevent the reuse. Be careful, my 1st thought was where am I going to get a new one of these caps. The video showing the installation showed a nut that was threaded but on my model this is not correct. I believe the nut was originally pressed on in the shop during construction and not meant for reuse. I also wasn't sure I could reach both hands in to thread the belt, doesn't look like enough room but there is. It is impossible to thread that belt with only one hand, tried it and no luck. Once I reach under and moved right hand over was so easy. All in all was well worth it and wife was very impressed and happy. Saved bunch of money and felt awesome when the dryer was purring like a kitten. Like to stop and listen to it for a couple minutes once in a while. Good luck and have no fear.

Frequent Metallic Screeching Sound
Unplug the dryer. On the back, I unscrewed the top three screws that hold on the instrument panel and (from the back) slide the panel to my left to disconnect from the top. I opened the dryer door and removed the two screws on the inside top of the doorway to remove the top panel of the dryer. Inside the top of the dryer are two screws to remove so that I could swing the front panel of the dryer out to replace the lower front felt drum seal. I needed to use wd-40 on these screws. When the panel opens, there is no way to disconnect the wires to remove the panel, so I had to prop it up with something so it didn't tip over and damage the wiring; a sturdy chair worked. Then, I heared the drum pop off and drop down a little. I replaced the seal according to the video; by putting it in the groove and pressing it down into the tabs with a flat head screwdriver or something smooth with a little of the seal hanging over the groove at each end. While I was in there, I cleaned out the lint and the wd-40 I used earlier. Then I closed the panel, lifting the drum back into place, ensuring that the dryer drum would turn before and after I replaced the screws. I replaced the top panel and the screws inside the dryer door and slid the instrument panel back into place and replaced those screws. The dryer works great and very quietly now!
