Installing a new dishwasher in a remodeled Kitchen
I remodeled my kitchen with new cabinets. In order to better utilize cabinet space, I located the dishwasher away from the sink, which means that I had to have a longer drain hose. The store I purchased the dishwasher from didn't have a longer hose, so I went online and found it on this website. Thanks for the quick shipment. I ordered it using standard delivery and received it in less than three days. I have book marked this website for future use.

one of plastic clips that attach spring & cord to door had broken off. Only one side was still attached; thereby, door lost tension, when opened.
I replaced both brackets and cords. the hardest problem was attaching spring to frame housing of dishwasher since I didn't want to pull dw completely out of cabinet area because of water copper line connection and power connection. I had to use grip plyers to hold spring as I streached spring to connect to cable.

Door Balance Link Kit
First challenge was getting a model number match. The telephone parts ordering rep convinced me to get a ...SS6 replacement. Said his database did not show the ...SS7 installed in my home. As to how I did the repair, I looked at the video available as a part of ordering the replacement parts. The video seemed quite appropriate and accurate except that spring tension was under-stated in the video. In fact, it was made to look like there was no issue in reconnecting the tension springs. Not! Took some effort and a bit of wrestling in a difficult body position to reconnect the tension springs. On the other hand, all of the self-replacement task far beat paying an exorbitant house visit fee by an authorized repair person.

Dishwasher door had no counter-balance
I spent a heck of a lot more time contemplating how this was going to go than it actually took to do the job! Great insights from other people (and Steve's videos are awesome!). Absolutely agree with the person who said the replacement links are of better quality than the originals. I expect I'll never have to do this again. Bought the link kit and the springs since I didn't know for sure what the failure was until I got into it. The original springs were fine so am returning the two that I bought. Trickiest part was re-hooking one of the door springs - I couldn't pull the dishwasher all the way out due to length of the electric wiring, so had to work at a weird angle to do one side. They're so strong that I kept pulling myself across the floor instead of stretching the spring! Finally ended up starting with the inside end hooked and then stretched to make the connection to the link. That said, including removing the kick plate and counter anchors and then replacing them, I was done in less than 30 minutes.

Balance line snapped
1. Removed front panel. 2. Backed out retaining screws at top. 3. Backed up leveling feet. 4. Pulled out dishwasher but seemed tight so stopped not wanting to break electrical or water line. Made very short space in which to work. Insulation batting was binding at top between DW and counter opening so tended to bunch up. 5. Spring at rear had flown off, so had to reattach while not being able to see. 6. Spring and new line were very tight so grabbed line with channel pliers just ahead of spring to get enough slack to get line over guide wheel. 7. Moved DW back into place and reattached with screws. 8. Had to play with leveling feet to get gap the same on each side of DW and cabinet opening. 9. Reattached lower front panel. 10. It has worked great.

Kitchenaid Dishwasher Wouldn't Turn On
Replaced latch switch with parts-select whirlpool (usa) model (good choice) and unit still wouldn't turn on. I then turned 115 vac power off to unit for 1 minute and then back on and unit worked correctly with no additional problems. .

Door balance link of left side of door string broke
Ordered the part. It arrived in less than two days. Turn the power off for safety. You're done. You may have to loosen the drain line or water line to allow space to slide dishwasher far enough out to allow access to link kit. Easy repair. Video on your website gave detailed instructions. Thanks.

brocken door balance cord
It was a fairly easy repair job after we got the dishwasher out of its space in the counter. To accomplish this make sure that the water line is shut off and disconnected and allows enough movement to move the washer out at least far enough to expose the balance cord and spring. Ensure that the electrical connection line shut off and is free enough to allow movement of the washer. Finally, ensure that the dishwasher is lowered, if necessary, to clear any obstructions, top and bottom. Move the washer out far enough to work on her balance cord and get on with the repair job.

Dish washer was leaking from the motor.
The repair was somewhat difficult because I needed to replace the sump and everything is connected to the sump. This motor that needed to be replaced has a stem that goes up into the sump and is sealed by a gasket. Well the gasket wore out and for some reason that gasket is fixed to the sump. Water started leaking down into the motor and fried it. So long story short took pictures of everything before disconnecting and replaced everything with ease. The sump was a bit of a pain to get back in but it's all up and running just fine now.

Access to springs
To avoid disconnecting hoses, dishwasher could only be moved about 3/4 out from the cabinet. Stretching springs to allow connecting opposite end of cord to connection point required me to use locking wrench to grab end of spring and stretch it far enough to allow plastic loop to attach to door bracket.,. Video shows dishwasher on a platform with easy access to springs and cord connection points, which made this job much easier.
