This is a control bracket for your refrigerator, and may also be known as the dispenser control bracket. The function of this part is to hold the micro switches and the light socket in the freezer dispenser section in place. Its measurements are roughly 9 inches long and 5 inches high, and this model comes in white. The tools you will need in order to do this repair include a Phillips screw driver, a quarter-inch nut-driver, and a pair of needle-nose pliers. If your ice dispenser is not working properly, your bracket could be the problem.

Water won't flow from water dispenser

Found the control bracket housing had broken and micro switch for the water pump was not making contact with mechanical link. (In other words when you put a cup under the dispenser and push water did NOT come out.)

I removed the faceplate and switches, removed all the switches and installed them in the new control bracket. Installed new control bracket into fridge and tested. Works! Reinstalled faceplate and switches and drained system for a few minutes. Man I forgot how good filtered water tasted!

Ice dispenser would not operate

The control bracket is made of plastic and holds two microswitches that activate the ice dispenser and the water dispenser. The plastic clips that held the switches on the control bracket broke so that the switches no longer operated when the ice dispenser lever was operated.

Two screws held the external dispenser bezel, and two screws held the control bracket in place. The wiring and switches were transferred to the new bracket and the new bracket screwed into place. Then the bezel was replaced.

Total repair time was less than 5 minutes. The control bracket was $16.50 with shipping and arrived two days after I placed the order.

The PartSelect website had a clear diagram of the control bracket so I was comfortable with the order.

Ice dispenser would not dispense ice through the door

First I unplugged the frig, and turned offed the water and ice dispenser using the on/off panel switch. I removed the panel by inserting a small flat blade screwdriver at the bottom of the panel where the plastic studs locked the panel in place. By inserting a little upward pressure, the panel popped right ouff. The Micro Switch was very easy to remove and replace. Just make sure that the plunger on the ice dispenser makes solid contact with the switch when depressed.

The water inlet valve (Refrigerator Water Inlet Valve Kit) provides water for the ice maker and water dispenser. This part is located at the back of the refrigerator, and connects to the water supply. If your water inlet valve is malfunctioning, you could be getting a lack of water to the inside of your refrigerator. Your ice maker may not produce cubes or your water dispenser may not work. This breakage can occur from material fatigue or normal use, and is a sign the part should be replaced soon. The water inlet valve must be replaced if the solenoids no longer have continuity or the valve has internal blockage. The part measures approximately 6.5 inches long and 3 inches wide and is constructed of plastic and metal. It comes in blue/green/red.

Ice maker would't fill with water

I first read your forum which was extremely helpful! I checked the continuity of the electromagnetic valve and got a 0 reading on the ice fill valve. The valve next to it which is for the water in the door had a 300ohm reading on my meter. This meant there was a broken wire somewhere in the coil which confirmed the valve was bad. I tried to get the part locally but was told it was on back order! Ordered it thru Part Select at the regular shipping rates and to my surprise it arrived the very next day!
The valve was the new style where you push in the tubing until it locks. I carefully trimmed each tube square with a sharp razor knife, the old valve used plastic compression fittings which had to be cut off.One of the inlet tubes was smaller than the opening on the valve. I then noticed that there was a reducer in the box that snapped into place making the line a perfect fit! Even though the inlet valve looked different than the original it was an easy installation. After replacing it, I had ice again! Totally impressed with the service and how quickly they shipped the parts on the same day! I will never again run around town trying to find parts! Thanks to all of the hard working employees at Part Select!

When the remote water was turned on, water was pouring onto floor from rear of refrigerator

First I unplugged the fridge, then using the socket set I removed the cardboard shield from the lower rear of the refrigerator. I located the leaking water from a cracked solenoid water valve just inside the lower cavity directly behind the water intake line. Removing the valve was a snap - most of the valve plastic compression couplings unscrewed and came off. The metal compression fittings required an adjustable wrench and a pair of pliers to hold the solenoid unit steady. A couple of hex nuts kept the solenoid bolted to the refrigerator frame and came off easily with the socket. Two simple push-on electrical plugs came right off just by pulling on them. The new valve unit wasn't exactly like the original one. It had push-on instead of compression water fittings and the plugs were oriented differently. I recommend studying which water lines entered which port on the valve because I was a little unsure after I took the old one apart (whoops). After figuring out how to put it pack together, the push-on water fittings were even easier, and the unit was scewed back into place on the fridge frame. The electric plugs have different sized contacts so you can't mix them up. I put the cardboard shield back on. Viola!

The water dispenser flow was very slow and the housing leaked when the filter was removed.

Removed front plastic grill and screws holding the filter in place. Also removed lower back cardboard panel to access water lines. Video on this website told me how to remove water lines from filter, you must depress a collar around the water line while pulling out the water line. Then install the new Water Filter Housing and water lines. The only problems I had was the tight space to work in and one of the water lines was leaking, but pushing the water line in further solved the problem.

This part is the replacement dispenser lever retainer for your refrigerator. It is made of metal and is approximately 2 inches long and ½ an inch wide. The bottom half of the dispenser lever retainer holds in the pivot points of the ice and water arms. If it breaks, the arms will be loose and can shake around. The top half springs the ice and water arms back into the original position, and if the retainer is broken, they will not be able to do this. The dispenser lever retainer is found behind the dispenser trim and can be removed with a ¼ inch nut driver. This part is sold individually and is an OEM part.

One finger of the spring steel peice that holds the ice maker and water dispenser levers out broke.

I removed the screw holding the spring steel retainer/clip using a quarter inch ratchet wrench a swivel with a quarter inch socket and a short extention, then just installed the new one. This spring steal through the door ice maker / water despenser lever spring was an easy fix.
I found you by googling appliance repair parts, and found your site really easy to use. I couldn't believe how fast the part came and the very reasonable price. I put you on my web browser's favorites.

Water began to leak under the refrigerator. Source looked like it was coming from control valve suppling water to ice maker and water dispenser.

Followed instructions supplied. It was relatively easy and the parts fit exactly right. Sears wanted twice as much for the part and service would have charged me another $100 to come to my home. I saved over $100 doing the project myself.

There was a pin size hole in the tube.

It was pretty easy to install. The most difficult part was trying to get my hands into the small area to work. I had to use both hands, one to push the release in and the other to pull the tube out. Once I did that, inserting the tube was easy and everything worked perfectly.

In this kit you will find the support, the ice door, spring, and delay. The heater ribbon is no longer needed and therefore will not be included with this part. This kit works in the dispenser chute to let ice through when it is being dispensed. If you have the following symptoms such as: door sweating, difficulty opening or closing door, frost buildup, warm freezer section, or problems with ice dispensing, then this is a solution. The tools needed for this repair are a putty knife, needle nose pliers, and 1/4 inch nut driver. Wear work gloves to protect your hands when performing this repair.

Warm Air Getting Into Freezer

Patience is a virtue. The kit really works. 1st, lift the front plate of the ice dispencer by placing a flat head screw driver into the two slots at the bottom of the panel. When the panel is lifted up slightly at the bottom, push up on the panel to remove it. Careful not to break panel and the wires attached. Next, remove the wiring panel by removing the two screws on left and right sides. Then, unplug the old black ice cover from the wiring panel (this is the heating plug that you will nolonger need). Next, remove the parts and replace them with the parts in the kit, noting where each part comes from, etc. All parts in the kit are necessary and should be used. Some of the replacements need trial and error. Patience will be important. Also needed is a person that loves to solve problems, especially because the kit does not come with instructions. But the kit definitely works!
