AFI2538AEW Amana Refrigerator - Instructions

This is the second order we have placed from Partselect. It arrived within two days as promised. The repair took about ten minutes and consisted of removing the deli drawer, removing the broken end cap, removing the slide rail from the end cap, cleaning out the area with a sponge, attaching the slide rail to the new end cap and installing the new end cap. The deli drawer easily slides onto the rails and the deli door easilt locks into place within the side rails. We were unable to locate the part locally and from now on, Partselect will be the first place we look for an appliance replacement part.

I took out the two shelves that were in the way. Lifted the glass out and set it aside. Since the pantry drawer cover wasn't in, because the tab was broke, I lifted the support beam out, pulled out the drawer and lifted it out. (The pantry drawer just lifts right out, straight up then towards you) I took out the back support beam, it lifts straight up. After that, I used a screw driver to take the pantry drawer glider (part #12) off of the broken one, then I put it on the new one so I wouldn't forget its orientation to the new part. I used a my socket set to take out two (should be three, but mine had two) bolts. I then gently pulled off the part needing replaced, first pulling it to the left, bringing the SLIDE- TEM (part #11) the BAR- TEMP (part #15) with it. Part #11 is held in by a tab at the back, to the left, so when you have the whole thing at the correct angle, it just slides out. (Pulling to the right, when you have the whole piece angled towards the center of the fridge, to the left.) After you get that piece out, you'll be able to clean the bottom of the fridge, it's amazing how much crap builds up on the bottom! (I even found a dead fly, eww! LOL) Taking parts #11 & #15 off of your old piece is easy, two tabs that you bend in on the right side of part #11 loosens it from your old part, then twisting it to take the pieces apart then lifting a few tabs to get #15 off of the old part. Then twisting it again to get the KNOB-TEMP (part #14) off. Pay attention to how you take this apart! It goes back together just like it came off! Attach these pieces to your new piece then it slides right in like you took it out. Slide the back left of #11 into the tab, reinsert the bolts, put your support bars back in, put your drawer in, put the drawer cover back into the new tab you just installed, put your glass in and finally, your shelves. All done!

Just replaced a water/ice filter..

removed the two drawers. due to the refigerator location, had to remove the door. Then it was just 3 screws and put in the new end cap and then replace drawers and door. Job is done in less than 20 min and the wife is happy again.

Very easy to replace the old broken piece with the new one. Simple

removed deli tray and produce drawers.removed three screws with nut driver;removed track;trannfered track;reinstalled lefgt end cap.

Simple! Pop the case open. Counterclockwise to remove old filter. Wipe out excess water. Unwrap new filter; remove tab. Place in filter holder; turn clockwise. Close case. Run water to remove air. Couldn't have been easier!

Unplug Refrigerator remove lower back panel to expose compressor.Unplug Capactor relay assembly,Plug in new start assenbly,and then the refrigerator to elect'outlet .Compressor srarted right up . Real easy fix simple tools to perform change out. Thanks!!! Saved a bunch of $$$$$ .

this was an easy repair. most of the work involved emptying the regrigerator so the shelf bracket could be removed and replaced. acual repair only took 10 minutes. Next time I clean the erfrigeratoe I will be more carefull with the shelves so nothing gets broken. We had an Appliance Repair service come to fix, and they replaced the ice maker and the water valve, but ice maker was still not performing properly. We use RO water to fill the ice maker and because the water was also going through the charcoal cartridge, there wasn't enough water pressure to completely fill the tray. Plus charcoal filter was probably clogged. The original Blue Bypass Cap was nowhere to be found and I even called Kitchenaid to get one. They were of no help. But found your site, and found the part I needed. And best of all, ice maker is not jamming and is now making real ice cubes, not hollow, thin ones. And the water dispenser is now working too, so am very happy that such a small thing, fixed the big problem. Who knows, a clogged charcoal filter may have been the whole problem from the start.

I unscrewed the old filter and screwed the new filter in the way the instructions said. I have done this before with no problems. Easy fix.

I removed the bottom drawer, the two upper drawers and the glass that covered the lower drawer. Took three screws out of the left side pantry end cap and replaced it with the new part. New end cap in place, put the drawers back in, put the cover back on and it works like a charm.

Repair was helped by reading what others shared with similar issue helped a lot. First remove all bins and glass pane. Use the nut driver to remove three screws that hold the pantry. Be careful while removing it from refrigerator. There a an vent control that clips onto back side of refrigerator and attaches to pantry end cap. Remove this piece, be careful as not to break it. This piece ( the guts) attaches to the slide piece that attaches to the controller, remove carefully by turning it to align the slot tab. Then remove the pantry sliders by two screws by using your nut driver. Reverse these steps for reinstall. Then place completed unit into refrigerator, by clipping the back vent control, don't forget the square foam gasket. Then slide the pantry end cap into place, pay attention to the front of the end cap as you may need to slide into the clip to lock in place. Then screw in the three screws, careful not to tighten to much, as it might crack.
