Dishwasher wouldn't open. The latch was broken.
I called the 800 number instead of ordering online.
The young woman I spoke with was very helpful.
Like others, I was confused about which part to
order. I live in Mexico. There's a factory trained technician in town, but no parts. So I ordered the
part, had it shipped to my daughter in CA, and
when I visited I picked up the part and brought it
back. The technician charged 150 pesos. (That's
about $11 usd.) I watched him and realized I could have done it myself. But why bother?

Latch handle wouldnt correctly operate
As I read the previous stories on this part replacement, gave me insight as to what needed to be done. Was quite simple: removed screws from inner lining of door, slightly opened lining from main door to allow me to remove wire connections from the old latch assembly, then reinstalled new latch assembly, realigned the lining to the door and screwed back together.

Door would not lock
I called for a Lowes where I purchased the dishwasher was told it was out of warranty, they set up for a repairman to come out and fix it. He came out and told me it would be $190.00 for parts and labor but that didn't include the service call of $60.00 dollars. Total bill would be $250.00, plus it would be another 2 weeks before he would be able to get back because he had to order the part but and get this I would get the part delivered to the house before the two weeks, and that he wouldn't guarantee the part for more then 90 days.
I told him no way, so I researched the internet and found this site part cost $25.00 dollars my time about 30 min. SAVINGS of $225.00.
The part was pretty easy to install had to take out a few screws around the edge. Only trouble I had was putting in the handle but I figure that out and put everything back together again.
I would purchase parts from this company again had it within 2 days, at a very reasonable cost.

Food debris on dishes; seeds stuck in spray arms
Remove mid and bottom rack. The nut on the bottom spray arm can be removed by hand; all screws are T-20; just hold on to the impeller to turn its screw. I keep a T-20 under the sink, which tells you something about how reliable we've found this model! Remove screws as you go down, replace parts as you go back up; assembly is reverse of removal, yadda, yadda. Don't miss opportunities to notice how Maytag keeps making small improvements to many of the parts, wonder whether in a few more years of purchasing replacement parts for this thing it will finally stop breaking. My wife informs me that plastic mesh filters like Maytag uses are something she buys for her lab as disposable single use items. We actually had a Bosch on order (metal filters) but I decided to give this unit one more infusion of parts. It's working better now, but I don't know how long it will last before something else gives out.

Wash arm holes had worn, preventing proper rotation due to limited force of water jets
Took off the small plastic nut -- you can do it with your fingers. If it's too tight, use a pair of pliers.Lift off the old arm, put on the new arm. Very simple. Takes 2 minutes.

Open dishwasher, remove inner panel, unplug the two latch switches, insert latch Assy into latch bracket and hold in place as you place inner panel in place. Ensure inner panel holes line up with bracket Assy and install inner panel screws. You will need a T20 torx tip driver available at Sears or any hardware store.

Broken handle on dishwasher
Removed all the screws around the outer portion of dishwasher door. This would be the part of the door facing the dishwasher when the door is closed. When you remove the screws, this will loosen the handle, enabling the handle to be removed and easily replaced.

Broken door latch
Ordering the part was very easy. Ordered it on Friday and it was on my door step on Saturday. It took longer to take the screws out of the door then it was to install the new handle. Dishwasher is working great. Hopefully the new handle will last longer than the orignal handle.
