Plastic in vent grill deteriorated in six years causing vent grill to fall of microwave.
Removed vent grill and replaced with new product from PartSelect. Three screws attach vent grill to microwave housing. Very easy to do, but not satisfied with original parts on vent grill uses by General Electric. Microwave is above range model and vents to the outside. Read more...

The door panel and grille vent are plastic and thay both cracked and fell apart due to cheap plastic parts from GE.
Removed the screws at the top of vent and took the vent off and then removed the door by lifting it off the hinge. I had to break the old plastic door frame to get it off, but since it was no good anyway it didnt matter. Then I put the glass in the new frame put the handle on it and snapped the frame on to the door and put it back on the door hinge and then put the new vent on and screwed it down and closed the door. Job was not to hard at all. Read more...

Grill needed replacing - it literally fell apart
The grill is located on the top of the microwave - above the door. The plastic seems to have just deteriorated - the plastic around the screws just cracked. There was also another crack on the side of the grill assembly. The micrawave is fairly new (4 years old) and we don't use any harsh cleaners on the plastic grill because it has never required it. The unit is also vented to the outside - so it doesn't get exposed to alot of heat. To put on the new grill - it took 5 minutes, two small phillips head screws. My only question is why did the plastic just fall apart Read more...

The prior grill fell off and dented my microwave it's 5 yrs old.
Place the clips in proper area and it just clipped on. There are holes for screws but none came with it and I none in my prior grill. You would think that would help hold it up there. Hmmmm Read more...

Grille assembly vent was cracked and would not stay in place nor would vent operate
By selecting the entire grille assembly vs buying just the individual parts it made the replacement simple. Just had to remove 2 screws from the old assembly to remove. The new assembly popped right in and fastened it with the 2 old screws. I would recommend purchasing the entire grille assembly vs. just the individula parts if the plastic is cracked and brittle. The price difference was not that significant. Read more...

I had broken the clips that hold the vent in while cleaning it.
I ordered the part from this site (which was a little lower cost than another site but was described as a genuine GE part), and I looked up the instructions in my manual. It took about a week to get the new grille. There are 2 philips head screws attaching the grille. Just remove the screws, discard the old grille and put in the new grille with the same screws. The description on-line calls it a snap on grill which is a little misleading. It is attached with screws. I was fearful that it would not fit but it is identical to the old one. I am very pleased I did not have to replace the microwave even though it is 11 years old, it works. Read more...

The existing grille broke off
I examined the grille (at that time I didn't know the name of the part. It appeared to be an easy fix. I wrote down the serial number of the microwave and googled for the part. I ordered the part and replaced it. It was very simple and I'm not a fix-it person. My husband was amazed. Read more...
