This is a door hinge, which allows for your washer door to properly shut during the washing cycle, and open after it is finished. If your door hinge is bent or broken and not allowing the door to shut properly, this hinge needs to be replaced immediately. Replacing this hinge will require a screwdriver to remove and install. This door hinge is an OEM part made of durable metal, and does not come with any other parts, like the necessary securing screws or install bracket.

One of the hinges broke, making the door sag
Using the Torx Screwdriver, we removed the door from the unit. Then we removed all of the screws on the inside of the washer door. After that we flipped it over and opened it up exposing the inside. We couldn't separate them entirely because there was a screw under the latch piece that we couldn't figure out how to get to. However with all the screws out on the inside of the door, we did have enough room to open it up and access the place cover that holds the hinges in. Once we accessed that we removed the roller tips from the old unit and placed them on the new one. Then we reversed the process. With a couple screws in we realized we had put the hinge in reversed from what it needed to be, so we reopened it and switched it around. Then completed replacing all the screws and reattached it to the washer. It opens and closes perfectly and we saved a couple hundred dollars for sure, as the quote to come out had been a $150 trip charge. Read more...

Dryer Lid Bumper

PartSelect Number PS284979
Manufacturer Part Number WR02X10540
The lid bumper or evaporator fan motor bumper in your refrigerator prevents the fan motor from scraping against the side bracket. If your refrigerator/freezer is noisy, the bumper could be worn down or missing, and the sound could be a result of the motor scraping the side bracket. You will find it between the fan motor and the side bracket on the evaporator fan motor assembly. To access the bumper, you will need to remove the evaporator fan motor assembly from the freezer. This part is made of orange rubber and is less than half an inch in diameter. It has a rounded top and a slightly pointed bottom, and is sold individually.

Loud high pitch whining noise behind freezer
Ref. still worked but had this loud high pitch whining noise coming from inside freezer for a few months. It's probably a bad bearing or motor.

1) Remove all shelves and ice dispencer
2) Remove (x2 screws / a green wire that's clipped on) and the evap cover
3) Remove (x3 screws) cover motor/solenoid and unplug harness
3) Remove (x2 screws) icemaker and unplug harness
4) Remove/Loosen (x2 screws bottom / x2 screws top) Duct air freezer
5) Remove (x2 screws) Orifice evap fan and unplug harness
note: will need to remove right screw to get green ground wire off. And be careful on to damage the gasket.
6) Once Orifice out of refrig, disassemble.
7) Main thing to replace is the Motor DC Evap fan, and maybe CapDust, BumperLid, GrommetEvpFan.
8) now just go in reverse order...
That's it . . . wasn't too hard and NO MORE whining!!! Save at least a couple of hundred by not having a prof. come out and do it. Easy enough for most DIY person.

This silver hinge supports your dryer door on the front panel. These hinges are located on both sides of the dryer door and help it open and close smoothly. Over time, with frequent use, the hinges can wear down, causing them to become less effective at rotating. Additionally, lint or moisture buildup can make the hinges harder to move. Please note that this genuine OEM replacement part does not include the necessary screw for installation. You will need to reuse the original screw or order it separately.

Dryer door hinge broken
Opening the dryer door on the vertical axis rather than the horizontal axis, I unscrewed the three obvious screws. These screws are clearly visible when viewed from eye level. The broken hinge came off in two pieces, but presented no difficulty. I inspected the area around the hinge for auxiliary damage. There was none, but I did notice a wisp of cotton candy stuck in the lint trap. This was odd as I had not had cotton candy of any kind in my home or near my dryer ever. I did hear the faint sound of calliope music-I assumed this to be from an ice cream van that frequents the neighborhood-but failed to detect the tell-tale doppler effect of a moving vehicle. Disturbed, but determined to finish my task I removed the new part from the packaging and checked the fit. It fit perfectly. NOTE: Retain the screws from the hinge you remove, as the replacement hinge does not come with screws. I looked down to where my screws lay and saw the bulbous oversized toe of large red shoe. There was a star on the tip, painted in blue and yellow. I looked up from the shoe to see it attached to an ankle with a frilled cuff and up from there a baggy pair of pantaloons. At this point I realized that circuses now being illegal in this country, I clearly had a rogue clown on my hands. Sitting as I was I was not able to quickly get up, and in the confines of my washroom I had nowhere to run anyway. I had to think fast. I could smell the stale popcorn on the clown's breath as he leaned over, I reached for anything I could, grabbing up a pet cleaning vacuum hose. The clown just snorted and said, "You want a Phillip's head for that." The clown was right, of course. I installed the screws, checked that the door worked, and then the clown and I went for churros. Dryer door hinge broke.
Followed YouTube video repair process. The only problem is that the door hinge has plastic bushings attached. A couple broke and the parts listing does not show the bushings, nor does the hinge come with them. The door is a bit loose without them. Nonetheless, the repair did the job for now. Read more...
