broken control knobs
I opened the package. I tool out the plastic bag containing the replacement knobs. (I ordered two). I lined up the knob that needed replacing and pushed it on. The replacement knobs are of a better quality than the original and shouldn't break like the old ones. After this repair I was exhausted and took a nap.

Then it was a simple matter to unscrew two small screws holding the broken cooling selector switch in place.
At this point, I unhooked each wire (about 7 of them) from their terminal connector on the back of the switch, and reapplied each to the new switch. After I was done I then mounted the new switch with the two screws and realigned the pannel.
The only thing remaining was to install the small pannel using three pop rivets and slide on a new knob, and reinstall the large A/C front cover.
FYI, The new replacement switch and knob were perfectly identical, and worked like a charm. Read more...

The cooling selector switch stopped working
First removed the power and front panel. Then in order to get to the damaged cooling selector switch, I needed to first drill out three riviets holding the small front pannel that the switch and thermostat selector switches are mounted on.Then it was a simple matter to unscrew two small screws holding the broken cooling selector switch in place.
