Is there a way, on this old dishwasher, to clean filter or wherever food gets trapped? Or does everything just go down the drain, unlike the newer models?
For model number DWU8860AAX
PartSelect logo
Hi Lois, thank you for getting in touch. Based on our research, your model has a pump housing filter, part number PS11747618, which might need cleaning. First, remove the lower rack. Then, remove the lower spray arm. Remove the pump cover by removing the screws all around the circumference. Lift the cover off to access the filter. Grasp the filter and pull it off. Now, wash the filter for any debris or food particles stuck in it. We hope this helps!

HOW DO YOU TEST AND CHANGE A FLOAT SWITCH ? I HAVE 2'' WATER IN THE BOTTOM OF DISHWASHER ... THANKS ...
For model number DWU8860AAX
PartSelect logo
Hi Stanley, Thank you for your question. You will need to use a multimeter to test the float switch. Before removing and testing the float switch, you will need to disconnect the power to the dishwasher. Once the float switch has been removed from the dishwasher, set your multimeter to the Rx1 setting and touch the probes to the switch’s terminals. This should produce a reading of zero or infinity. With the probes still touching the terminals, press in on the switch’s button, this should change the reading to the opposite extreme (from zero to infinity or infinity to zero). If your test results produce readings that differ from the above, you will need a replacement float switch. We have included a link to one of our YouTube videos that you may reference for information on how to remove and install the float switch. The dishwasher in the video may not be the same as yours, but it will give you a general idea on how to install the part. We hope this helps!

Rack roller broke
I opened the end stop of the rack, replaced the roller, and put the end stop back on. I can't believe I paid the repairman the last time $125????? An he put in a regular screw that rusted and broke the roller. Took me 3 minutes! Thanks

The dish rack had two sets of adjustable tines that had never worked.
I ordered two clips just in case. Turns out I needed both of them. Since I hadn't seen the adjustable tines installed, it took some time to figure out how to put the assembly together.

For some reason I had the dishwasher for 7 years before it occurred to me to order the replacement parts. It's much more efficient to use with the adjustable tines properly installed as I can load approximately 25% more plates than before.

The utensil basket was old, bowed and the bottom was falling out.
I ordered a new replacement basket. The new one is a little different but it fits in the same place and takes up the same amount of room in the dishwasher. It looks very nice too.
