Humidifier ices up.
For model number AD25DSS1
PartSelect logo
Hi Larry, Thank you for your question. If the coils on your dehumidifer are icing up, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the humidity control, the blower wheel and the motor. You will need to check the humidity control with a multimeter to see if it has continuity. For the blower wheel and motor, you will need to do a visual inspection. From our website, if your dehumidifier coils are freezing up and the room temperature is above 65 degrees Fahrenheit, there may be an issue with the blower wheel or fan blade. These two parts facilitate the air flow which is necessary for a dehumidifier to keep the condenser coils from freezing up. If the air filter is clean and there is no air flowing through the grille, remove the fan cover to visually inspect the coils. Remove any dirt or debris that could be impeding air flow. Check the blower wheel and fan blade to make sure nothing is blocking their movements. Take this opportunity to clean these parts, or replace them if they appear to be damaged. Manually rotate the fan motor to ensure it will move freely before restarting the unit. To troubleshoot the dehumidifier fan motor, check to see if air is flowing from the grille, and that the air filter is clean of dirt and debris. Remove the fan cover and check for any signs of damage to the coils or fan. Take this opportunity to clean any parts that are dirty, and check to make sure the fan motor is able to rotate freely, with no objects blocking its way. Turn the unit to fan mode, and observe how the fan operates. Be very careful when performing this repair. If the fan hums but does not spin, or spins slowly, it will need to be replaced. If the fan neither hums nor spins, it should be tested by a qualified person, using a multimeter. We hope this helps! Good luck with the repair!

The Origional Humidistat Quit Working
The knob one turns to set the humidity level was removed. The two screws holding the top on were removed. The top was lifted and swung to the side. After noting which of the two wires went where on the humidistat the wires were removed. Small flat screwdrivers were used to pry back the plastic retainers on one side of the original failed humidistat. The new one was put in place, the two wires were reattached. The knob was replaced. The top was positioned and its two retaining screws replaced. A magnetic phillips screwdriver was handy but not necessary. Piece of cake! Someone with ten thumbs could do it!! Thanks for the prompt courteous attention to the returned erroneous part! Dealing with partselect. Com was a pleasure. . . . . . Thanks!! P. S. The dehumidifier works like new now!!

broken plastic wheel on dehumidifier so it wouldn't stand up straight.
I was able to pull the old wheel off and then went to google on the computer and put in whirlpool dehumidifier. I was directed to a website where I could put in the model # of the appliancew and then was able to view pictures of repair parts. I was able to view the actual caster and determine that I was ordering the right one. The part came about 3 days later and I was able to snap it on without using any tools. There was alittle plastic guide to hold aside and slide the new caster in place.
