How to remove the drum of Frigidaire brand dryers :

Opening the cabinet and removing the drum of Frigidaire dryer models

Note:
Disconnect the power source to your dryer before you begin to remove the drum. Either unplug the unit from the wall outlet, remove the appropriate fuse from the fuse box, or flip the appropriate breaker in the circuit breaker panel.

There should be a removable kickplate found at the bottom of the dryer. Remove this kickplate by removing the two screws found at the bottom. Let the kickplate drop down just a little to disengage the two pins found on its top.

If your dryer has an enamelled top, you can raise it by releasing the two spring catches found under it. Use a putty knife (or some other thin and flat object) to push in on and disengage each catch.

Remove the two screws (some models will have four) that secure the bottom of the front panel. As you remove the front panel, disconnect the door switch and any other wiring, taking careful note of which wires are to be reconnected where.

If your dryer has a galvanized top, remove the screws from the front panel, and then remove the front panel itself. As you remove the front panel, disconnect the door switch and any other wiring, taking careful note of which wires are to be reconnected where.

Keep in mind that as you remove the dryer's front cabinet panel, you are also removing the drum's only front support. Your drum will be free-floating for a bit.

With the front panel removed and set to the side, lift up on the back end of the drum. There will be a ball on the back of the drum that fits down into a socket. You are going to remove this ball from its socket. On some models, there is a bracket holding the ball down in its socket. For these models, you will have to remove this bracket before you can remove the drum. The bracket can be accessed and removed from the rear of the dryer.

To replace your drum, simply reverse the removal process. Reassemble the unit and restore power to your dryer.
