Thermistor Specifications

This is a bin thermostat made for standalone ice makers to activate the ice maker shut-off when bin is full. It senses how much ice is in the bin to determine if it should produce more ice or activate shut-off. The bin thermostat may need to be replaced if bin is overfilled, underfilled, or not producing ice. Thermistor can be tested with an ohm meter. This part is made of plastic and metal, and is white in color. This is an authentic part sourced from the original manufacturer.

Excess ice
Double check the actual part number. While the item looks the same, my unit had a 3 prong plug while the replacement had only 2 and did not fit.

Ice maker overfilling with ice and would not stop production when full.
Very easy to replace. Down load the Manual online for a completely operating manual. Thermistor can be tested with an Ohm Meter. Proper values are listed in operating manual.

IceMaker was overflowing so the suspicion was the Ice level sensor was working
The most difficult part of this order was identifying the part. The manual and picture for this model icemaker called the part a Ice level Sensor. No such item could be identified at Parts Select or at Kitchen Aid. After looking at item after item on the parts diagram it was determined the new name was a bin Thermostat not to be confused with the Thermistor, Ice control.
Replacement was quick and easy and took 5-10 minutes. Working fine now.

It seems as that the ice cutting grid is remaining on full time causing bin temp to melt ice excessively. Could this be caused by one of the thermister?

Hi Chris, Thank you for your question. If the cutting grid is not turning off, then the part may be malfunctioning and you will need to replace it. There may also be an issue with the electronic control board and you will need to test the parts with a multimeter. Here is a link to one of our videos on YouTube that you may reference on how to use one, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWC44fHn0As. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!
