SWITCH Specifications

The relay switch may also be known as the door micro switch and is a part for your microwave. The function of this part is to monitor the door latch and communicate whether the door latch is open or closed to the electronic control board. Before making this repair, you will want to make sure to unplug your microwave and discharge the capacitor. Your microwave capacitor is able to store electricity in large quantities even after it has been unplugged. The most common reason for replacing your relay switch is if the microwave will not turn on but your timer still runs..

Sorry, we couldn't find any existing installation instruction that matched.
Instructions did not match the assembly of the ice maker.
I managed to move the auger far enough to allow me to insert the cup-drive and then realign the auger with the new cup-drive. I also have had one to break very shortly after installing it. This is my second part to replace and this one went really smooth, since I understood that the initial parts installation instructions did not apply on my ice maker.

Everthing works except heating.
This is an OTR microwave oven, needs to be removed to diagnose problem. I did not diagnose problem properly, I searched online for possible causes, read that (99%)percent of the time the interlock switch was bad and replacement should solve my problem. It was also stated to be an easy fix,15- 45 minutes depending on ability. I ordered the relay switch. Took the oven down then removed outer shell. With my multimeter I began to test, fuses(2), interlock switches(3)and transformer. 3 interlock switches were ok, fuses were fine, and had power to the transformer, meter could not read output of transformer because of high voltage, (2300v). I'm down to magnetron (about a hundred bucks) or the touch pad/ circuit board. I have a countertop micro that I'm putting in place of the OTR. As far as Partselect, my item was shipped and delivered on time, instructions for changing that part was quite accurate. Would order from here again, just do my homework first.

Timer runs, but no heat.
I purchased one relay switch (there are three) took one out one by one and replced it with the new one and tested it each time until it worked. Super easy and saved me hundreds of dollars by doing this myself.

Microwave would count down but not run
After unplugging the unit remove the control face buy removing the screws. All three door switchs are on a bracket on the left. Remove the two screws holding the bracket in place and pull out. Disconnect the wires from the three switches and test each switch indivually to determine the bad one. I used a multimeter set on ohms.Replace the bad switch with the new one and replace all the wires. Reassemble the unit and you are good to go.

Timer would run but the microwave won't start
I first removed the top plate above the microwave door (3 screws), then I removed the plate containing the buttons and clock. The microwave has 3 relay switches and they are in a little holder. The holder was too difficult to remove so I just removed the bottom switch and replaced. The microwave started right up.

When we open the door the fan is running. The microwave works but it seems wrong that the fan is like that. Would it be a switch? #PS8769124? Do you have a video of this fix? Thanks
For model number CPLMV169DCD
PartSelect logo
Hello Tom, Thank you for the question. There are three switches for this model. The Top and Bottom Switches are Part #: PS8769124 and the Middle Switch is Part #: PS2343189. We recommend testing each switch to see if they are reading Normally Open or Normally Closed. There will be markings on the switch to what it should read. We hope this helps!

Hello, Microwave fan runs when the door is open. Otherwise, it works perfectly. Thank you for advising the part number to replace with instructions. Regards.
For model number FGMV174KFB
PartSelect logo
Hello Mohideen, Thank you for your inquiry. We recommend checking the door switches first, there are 3 altogether and if one is faulty then it can cause the fan to come on when the door is open. You can test the switches with a multimeter. For safety reasons, since the microwave capacitor can still store electricity even when the microwave is unplugged, it is usually advised that you discharge the capacitor before any attempt at repair. We have included a link on how to do so. https://www.partselect.com/Microwave+discharge-capacitor+repair.htm Good luck with your repair.

I have a similar issue (no heat in microwave) to that from Robby listed in the questions (August 30, 2022) so I bought item #FRG5304493153 (PartSelect Number PS8769124) which your website claims to be the appropriate repair fix 99% of the time this "no heat" issue occurs in the model number for my microwave. Unfortunately, the order relay switch does not match the label indicated on the relay switch in my microwave oven and it didn't work when installed and shorted the electrical panel (note: my relay switch is labelled D3V-1G-2C25 with a red button - if that matters- and a 0.1A250VAC rating whereas the ordered piece appears to have a different rating labelled "16A-1/2HP-125 OR 250/VAC" and an orange button). Note: I'm aware that there are also two identical other switches linked to the door latch (D3V-16G-3C25) which I have not touched. I don't see any other relay switches so I don't think the ordered piece works with my microwave. Would you have suggestions on how to repair this "no heat" issue (e.g., do you sell the relay switch that's in my microwave)?
For model number CPLMZ209GCA
PartSelect logo
Hi Craig, thank you for reaching out. The door switch listed under your model is part number PS8769124. For the no heat issue, we would suggest checking the following parts: rectifier assembly, part number PS2343253, and magnetron, part number PS1148111. However, for the shorted electric panel, we would recommend replacing it. The part number is PS979641. We hope this helps!

How to remove switch from inside switch component
For model number FGMV174KFC
PartSelect logo
Hello Michael, thank you for your question. Before you begin, unplug your microwave. Then remove the screws securing the vent in place with a Philips screwdriver. You can use a putty knife to help pry off the vent. Unscrew the screws for the control assembly. Lift up the control panel to detach. Take a picture of how the wires are installed. Disconnect the wires and remove the panel. Take a picture of the door switches before removing them. To remove them, pry them off with a flathead screwdriver. Remove the screws holding the door switch holder to the frame. Lift the switch holder up and remove it from the frame. Use a small flathead screwdriver to press the tab to remove the center door switch. Install the new door switch by snapping it into place in the holder. Insert the switch holder back into the frame and secure it with the screws. Note the pictures you took to reinstall the wires. We hope this helps. Good luck with your repair!

how do you discharge the high voltage capacitor
For model number cplmz209gca
PartSelect logo
Hello Michel, thank you for your query. A capacitor is discharged by creating a short circuit between each of the two capacitor terminals, and between each terminal and the chassis. The chassis is the metal mounting or the bare metal surface of the capacitor. With your microwave unit unplugged, touch the blade of a well-insulated screwdriver to one terminal. Gently slide the screwdriver forward until it reaches the other terminal, holding it there for a few seconds. Be aware that this often results in a loud and startling noise. Repeat this procedure in order to create a short circuit between each capacitor terminal and the chassis or the bare metal mounting plate surface. Good luck with your repair!

Microwave does not heat up. Light, turn table, timer are working perfectly just stopped heating. Any insight on what could be causing this?
For model number CGBM185KFC
PartSelect logo
Hello Manisha, thank you for contacting us. The most probable cause of the issue is a faulty door switch, part number PS8769124, and a defective diode, part number PS2339491. Sometimes the issue can be related to the magnetron, part number PS2364320, and the HV capacitor, part number PS2364319. Because high-voltage capacitors in a microwave can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is unplugged, we would recommend calling a qualified serviceman for checking these parts. Customer service is always available to help you place an order if you are having trouble doing so. Good luck with your repair.
