Lack of a schematic form part-select

I followed the isntructions of another fellow who had repaired his ice maker, but made the mistake of taking the ice crushers apart before noting where the fixed blades were to be reassembled. Since there was not a schematic with the part I had to go on line to your site and enlarge and use the one there, while accurate, was very hard to read and when I finished, I think it is in the wrong place as I'm not able to get the fineness of crushed ice I had before the repair, but absent a very legible schematic I'm not going to try to fix it further. The auger works, gives us ice cubes and half crushed cubes.
Another tip for future repairers is to to wait for the ice container to warm up or use a hair drier on the part where the tabs need to be depressed to slip off the blade housing. When cold it's extremely brittle, but since I had to leave the job for later at one point and left in on my work bench I found it much more pliable and easy to assemble.
All in all, I'm OK with the part and the result, but wish I could have gotten the fixed blade back into the right spot.

Pieces began to break off the auger and be dispensed

Remove tray assembly and dump ice. Remove two Phillips screws from bottom near front. Disengage latches at top near front, and remove front cover.

There is a long, spring-loaded rod on the bottom, whose position determines whether the ice is cubed or crushed. Remove one Phillips screw and disengage the rod from the crusher assembly. Be careful not to bend the rod, and be sure to reassemble it after the auger has been replaced.

Use pliers to remove nut from front of auger. It has left threads, and no flats for a wrench. Remove snap washer from end of auger with flat screwdriver, and remove large washer. Then you have to disassemble the crusher and phenoodle the auger out of the plastic housing. Be very careful to lay out all the parts, so you can remember how they go back. Also, note how the clear plastic back cover for the crusher is positioned. You can't put it back wrong, but it can confuse you if you don't remember how it was assembled.

Reverse the process to put it all back together. It works just fine.

The end of the auger blade was broken off where it dumped ice into the door dispenser.

I remove the drawer and waited for it to come up to room temp. One screw was removed from the top front sheild so it could be removed. The housing for the front of the auger also contains the ice crusher. This unit snaps into place after removing two screws from the bottom. Caution was used during removeal so the shaft for the ice crusher engage was out of the way. Once completely unsnapped the front of the auger is exposed. A lock nut with reverse threads is removed and the ice crusher blades and spacers are removed. Remember the position of the blades and spacers for reassembly. Reverse the order for reassembly. Caution when snapping the front assembly back in place to ensure the ice crusher engagement shaft is seated properly. Easy repair.

Broken plastic auger flights

Remove the bucket and dump the ice out. Unscrew 4 phillips screws, pry up the tabs on the auger cutter cover and remove it. Using a screwdriver, pry off the "C' clip and remove the auger. Place the auger in a vise and unscreww the plastic end nut by turning "clockwise". Slide off all the cutters and spacers and reinstall on the new auger. Reinstall the auger, cover and holding screws.

Plastic ice auger broke - big pieces

Taking it apart proved to be very difficult. I had to use two flat head screwdrivers. One to pry up the whole inner plastic assembly and one to open the sides to allow the inner part to separate. The "push tabs" didn't work and the two screwdriver method was needed to get the two assemblies apart. Once this was accomplished the other directions listed on your site worked like a champ. Thanks for your great price and speedy delivery.

Blade broke off of auger and would not dispense ice.

Took the parts brake down off the web site and disassembled the ice maker, making sure to keep all the parts in order of the way they came off the unit. Reassembled the unit slowly to make sure all went back in the proper order. Could not have been easier. The ice maker is working like it did from the factory. I think i saved around Two hundred dollars by doing the job myself.

Damaged ice bucket auger

The on-line video helped the most. Most of the time was spent removing the ice crusher housing from the ice bucket. I suggest using a putty knife over a screw driver to minimize damage to plastic parts.
