Ice wouldn't dispense, auger blade was broken

Removed ice bucket from refrigerator freezer and dumped the ice in a portable cooler. Removed the top screw and clear plastic deflector, then turned assembly over and removed two bottom screws. Front cover came off then. I had some trouble getting it further apart then because metal actuating rod underneath was still engaged in slot in other top part. Took the screw out of the front clamp holding the rod and then it all came apart fairly easy. Removed the retaining ring with screw driver and the auger shaft assembly came out. Removed the plastic nut ( thank Heaven I knew from others that it was left hand threads) using pliers. I knew to keep the metal ice crushers exactly the same orientation so I slid them off all together onto small shank of screw driver and immediately reinstalled them on new auger shaft after transferring plastic bucket end plate on augers. (The end opposite threads on auger shaft won't go through this plate so it must be put on first before crushers). Reinstalled nut on shaft (left hand) and tightened securely with pliers. The rest goes pretty easy, just opposite disassembly, but don't forget the metal rod must go in the slot in mating part during reassembly. Dumped in some of the ice saved, put bucket back in freezer and it worked. This is not what I call an easy first time repair but faint heart ne'er won fair lady. Hope this helps someone..

Front section of the plastic auger broke off and would not push the ice all the way out of the bucket.

Removed the ice bucket. Then removed the broken auger from the housing. Installed the new auger and replaced the housing.

Ice would not dispense, I found that the front of the plastic auger blade had broken off.

I read all of the repair stories and took a bit from each of them, here are the things that I did in addition to the suggestions by others:
- Take pictures of the ice tray before you start and at each step of the repair, if you get stuck you can always go back and review the pictures- digital cameras are great and make this easy.
- You need a tool for taking off the retaining clip on the end of the shaft, not sure what it is called. I was able to get the clip off with a pliers but it chipped the nut.

The auger had pieces that had broken off

First I removed the Ice Maker then removed the two screws that hold the cover in place and pushed the two pins in that release the cover. I then had to remove the nut that holds the blades on. Then took the blades off and put them back on the new one as they were and assembled the rest.

Blades on auger busted off

Removed auger from box unit, switched blades onto new unit , would have been a hell of lot easier if they would have told me they were left hand threads. (reverse threads).

The auger that turns and make the ice come out in the freezer was broken and needed to be replaced.

I am a 76 years old lady, and following the instructions in the video provided at the webside it was really easy. My only problem was that at first I could not find the new part. I had misplaced it inside my house. But I don't think it has anything to do with the difficulty of the installation. It probably has more to do with my age. Ha! Ha! I am very happy I could do it myself and did not have to call any of my two sons for help. Thanks PartSelect for making it easy for me.
