Front Drum Bearing

Remove top (2 screws) and front (2 screws), snap out old drum bearing, put new slides in new drum bearing and install in dryer. Reinstall front and top of dryer.

Drum was misaligned and scraping againt the appliance housing due to worn-out slides.

Replaced the drum slides 2 - white, 2 - black. Replaced the slide housing (front drum bearing?). This part was worn due to worn-out slides that were missing.

Cleaned out old lint from rear of drum and appliance housing. Put new weather stripping seals on the lint catch exhaust. Checked drum belt for cracks and checking.

Buttoned everything back up and dryer works as good as new. $60.00 for parts, 1 hour labor and the job was done!

Removed two screws to remove top to access drum. Removed two screws to remove front panel. Easily removed drum bearing and snapped in new bearing. 4 Glides were slid into slots. Only one problem. My service parts list called for drum bearing #WE3X37. I was sent #WE3M26. I was assured this was the right part for my dryer. Although the part did fit, I was unable to use the existing light because the the hole on new bearing was too small to accommodate it. Replacement of drum bearing would not be necessary if GE would put visible labels on dryer warning consumers of preventive maintenance of glides that wear.

I REPLACED Drum Bearing,Dryer Drum Slide AND Lower Front Felt Drum Seal AND EVERYTHING WORKS LIKE BRAND NEW AND DID NOT TAKE VERY LONG TO REPLACE ALL OF THIS PARTS VERY EASY JOB TOO DO YOUR SELF

This took less than 10 minutes to complete. 1) pull off the top of the dryer and remove the two screws that attach the front panel to the side panels. Once you pull the front panel towards you, away from the side panels, you can remove the front bearing. Be sure to be careful not to pull apart the wiring on the left side of the front panel. If you do, it is easy re-attached by hand. The front roller bearing of he drum can be removed by hand. Simply pull upward, with a steady pressure, on the bearing. It will snap out with this gradual pressure. The slide can be inserted by hand, with the two gray slide at 11 and 1 o'clock and the wite slide at 10 and 2 o'clock. The new bearing will snap into place by hand. Carefully insert the light bulb into the hole in the top of the new bearing whle snapping into place. The web site provides a good diagram that illustrates the various pieces and assembly. Once the bearing is in place, lift the dryer drum and set on top of the bearing as you re-attach the front panel to the side panels with the screws removed earlier. Replace the top by snapping back into place. Less than 10 minutes.

After several weeks of my wife and kids complaining about that monster in the other room squeaking and jumping around eating all of their clothes I decided to investigate. I removed the plug in from the socket, pulled the dryer out a few feet and decide to follow the instructions I had come across on my iPad, the videos that were listed on parts select were very helpful to watch as I started the repair job, I removed the bad components as instructed in the video, looked up my part numbers on parts select web site and placed the order. Wow within 2 days my parts had arrived and I was ready to reassemble the dryer. That task was very simple thanks to those videos, I was so surprised at the amount of detail that was given, even looking at the parts assembly diagram was very detailed, the repair was completed in no time, with in 45 minutes the parts were installed and the dryer was plugged back in and ready for a test run ! My wonderful wife and kids were so happy to see that daddy had tamed that monster and the clothes would no longer be eaten by that big white monster, they jumped for joy!!!! Every one was happy once again!!! It was so simple a cave man could do it Thanks to you parts select we saved money on a service call, saved money on the parts, and most important that monster will no longer jump around squeaking and yelping and begging for more clothes hubby says, parts select your the best!!!! Easy repair. Removed top of dryer and removed two screws to front panel and door assembly. Old front air duct assembly was worn and broken, so it literally fell off the panel. I cleaned the front panel and door assembly of all the lint and dirt, and snapped the new parts into place. The new parts came with the gasket and felt drum seal already installed, to all that had to be done was to snap it into place. Installing the drum slides was a breeze. I simply had to slide one end in the slot, position the hole over the pin, and slide the other end in. I put everything back together, and ran a full cycle for test. Dryer works like new, and run quiet.

The dryer was very noisy when it would start. The drum had warn the pads out and the drum was riding on the drum bearing. It really isn't a bearing more of a big piece of plastic. On the bearing are 4 slides (2 white and 2 green). These are easy to replace if the bearing is good. I let mine go too long and wore part of the bearing off. To fix: UNPLUG! Open the door and find 2 screws facing upward screwed into the top. Remove these 2 screws and remove the top. Take notice of how it comes out of the dash. On each side of the front panel (from inside) there is a smaller screw with a bigger head, remove both of these. You can now lift the front panel away from the drum and pull the front panel right out. It would be a good time to take a shop vac and clean all the lint out of this. Mine was almost full. If you are changing the bearing it is held in place with clips built on the bearing. Remove and replace. Put on the new slides as well. There is a little tab on the bearing and a hole in the slide. put the hole over the tab. The green ones I put on the top and the whites on the outter sides. Put the bottom of the panel in first and line up the drum on the new bearing, replace the 2 big headed screws, line up the top in the dash and lower into position, replace the 2 screws up inside the door and you are done. I have no dryer experience and would rate this job on a scale of 1-10 to about a 3 or a 4. There were no real suprizes.

A quick look inside verified that the drum slides were worn through but I also found that the plastic drum bearing that holds the slides was cracked in a couple different places. Ordered a new drum bearing, new slides, and decided to replace the felt seal as well since it looked pretty ratty. Parts arrived quickly after ordering and installation literally took 15-20 minutes. Purrs like a baby now. Steps: Unplug dryer. remove two screws which hold top of dryer to front. Remove two screws which hold front (door) to rest of unit. No need to disconnect wiring to front door, just make sure not to pull the wires out! Install new parts. Put it back together in reverse order.

inside dryer door housing i removed two screws these hold top of dreyer on.pulled dryer top up and it unhooks from control panel.theres two more screws inside the front door asembly located at the top on booth sides.remove them and the front is free except for dryer door switch.lean it back far enough to unpug wires.lay door asembly on the floor.drum slide pops out with screw driver at the top the bottom just slides out.drum bearigs are plastic strips on the drum slide. pull the old ones out if their is any left.replace with new.you need four drum bearings.then put back together the ame as you took it apart. good luck terry

Unplugged dry cord . Removed top and front cover. Removed drum to replace rear Bearing. Reinstalled drum replaced front bearings and sleeve. Reinstalled both covers and plugged in.

Replacing the front slides is easy. Just buy the parts and pop them in. The rear drum bearing is also easy, and you do not have to spend $50. Once I had the parts in hand, which is an axle from the rear of the drum and a bearing sleeve from the rear of the dryer cabinet, it looked quite simple and it is. I went to a hardward store, bought a bronze bearing that fit the axle and the sleeve and a C-clip. Cut the bearing to the correct length with a pipe cutter, and retain over the axle with the clip. Grease it up, and put the dryer back together. Total cost, $5. It works great.

removed the front panel. Removed old bearing, felt and slides. Reversed operation. No problem

i read in the forums about what was wrong and ordered the parts--they really need to tell you there are four bearing slides to be replaced-- you have to order singly. other than that - my grandson could repair it and the silence really is golden
