Note: The drum slides should also be replaced when your replacing the drum bearing.
Slides are NOT included. This part helps your dryer operate as quietly as possible.
This part works with the following brands: GE, Hotpoint & Kenmore.
This part fixes the following symptoms:
Sold individually. There are 2 per dryer. They attach to the outer-most sides of the bearing. Manufacture recommends to replace both slides at the same time.
This was really easy to me.1. I removed the 2 screws holing the top on.2. Carefully lifted and removed the top cover of the dryer.3. Removed the two screws holding the front of the dryer.4. Pulled the front of the dryer back being careful not to separate the wiring and set it up against the wall.5. Removed the old bearing (which was totally destroyed).6. Cleaned up all the old lint and build up off everything.7. Attached the new bearing after installing the slides.8. Resembled the part by reversing the above process.9. NO more screeching, works perfectly. This cost me a total of $50.00, (I used next day delivery)was completed in 3 days. If I had called my home assurance company it would have cost me $55.00 plus they would have come out, viewed the problem, orders the parts and 10 days later I would have had it fixed. What a waste of my time!

Removed top of dryer, removed the front housing. Cleaned the interior of dryer cabinet and all the build-up of lint and other matter with shop vac. Placed front housing on work table and removed the old drum bearing and felt seal. Cleaned the old lint and crud from housing. Installed the new bearing and slides. Some of the seals had deteriated, so I used some weather stripping to re-seal the exhaust port and connector. Reinstalled the front panel and hooked up the electrical connections. Tested operation before replacing the top cover. Drum is now very smooth again, and no squeeking. Very simple repair. I might also mention, I priced these parts at a local parts house, and found I would have been better off buying a new machine if I had bought the parts localy. ( I forgot to mention I unpluged the machine before removing any parts.) Hope anyone reading this has as successful a job as I did.
The repair was very easy. Had to remove the front of dryer, parts fit great. It was worth the extra money to ship parts next day then to listen to the squeeking anymore. Thanks to this site I was able to get the parts fast!!!
1. remove top2. remove front panel3. remove/replace drum bearing4. replace panels5. enjoy cold beersave yourself money working on your own appliances. appliance repairs often times don't require special tools, are very easy to diagnose and repair.
I noticed that some clothes were coming out of the dryer looking like they had been chewed on. The next day something actually caught on something inside the dryer near the door. There was a broken piece of plastic. I wrote the dryer model number down and came to this website. I easily determined it was the drum bearing from the pictures provided by this website. The part came 5 days later. I think it would have been sooner, but I ordered on a Friday before a 3 day weekend (Memorial Weekend). I did not order the slides recommended to be ordered with it because my dryer was not making noise. When I replaced the drum bearing, one slide was worn completely through and the others were fine. The one worn through was right near where the plastic on the drum bearing was broken. I ordered a green slide to replace the one that was worn through. Replacing drum bearing required the removal of 4 screws total. 2 inside dryer doorway, these two were facing towards the ceiling. After removing those two the dryer top popped off easily and did not require the removal of the control panel at the back of the dryer. The other two screws were inside and were small screws which held the front dryer panel onto the sides. After these were removed I pulled the front panel away enough to get to the drum bearing. Easy Peasy!
i watched the video and read a little about it and finshed the job in 30 minutes for less than $50.
This repair was so easy..removed four screws and replaced front bearing(big plastic peice) and four small plastic peices...project done in less than 15 minutes!!!
As your help video showed
How I did the repair ??...............it was real simple.watched the video one time and followed his instructions. It was so easy I couldnt believe it
removed the front of the dryer and replaced the upper bearing, it was a very easy repair for what i thought might have been a terminal problem.
I looked online and It showed me a video to fix what was wrong and it couldn't have been easier!!! Saved myself at least $100 by doing it myself. The parts were the right ones and I will definitely look here first if anything else goes wrong with my washer/dryer.
Our dryer was making an ear piercing high pitched squeal. I didn't know what it was, but through a quick search on this site determined that the Drum Bearin and Drum slides must be out. I ordered the items and they quickly arrived. I followed the skeematic of the dryer that they had on the site and it ended up being one of the easiest "do-it yourself" fix jobs I have been involved with in a long time. I will definitely come back to this site when I have future appliance issues. By the way, I am an accountant by trade and have no previous appliance fixing skills.
i opened the dryer door and took out the two bolts with phillips screw driver.i raised the top of the dryer up a little bit to un bolt the screws one on the left and one on the right.lift up on the front the dryer and pull out.you should be able to fix the problem. watch video of this sight how to help you fix problem it helped me alot.
Basically, I ordered 2 slides the bearing and the felt, all of which I was told were "usually" the cause of the noise issues. I believe they were, I replaced them all and it runs quiet as a church mouse! Thank you for all the help..
Took front of dryer pantel off and replaced parts ordered.dryer sounds very quiet like new dryer.
