Question:

How hard is this repair, do I need tools for it? I’m not very handy

Kareem
Answer:

Hello Kareem, to replace your lower dishrack you will not need any tools, and it is a simple repair. You can open your dishwasher to remove the cutlery basket, and the old dishrack should roll right out. Before inserting your new lower dishrack, check the wheels to make sure they are correctly aligned, place it on the door, set your basket in it, and it should easily roll back in to your dishwasher. Best of luck with this repair!

Question:

I just bought a used dishwasher and the racks are rusted do I need to replace them, or is there a way to have them cleaned/restored? If you see rust spots on the dishes, the lower rack will not pull out, or the lower rack is visibly rusted or damaged, you will need to replace the part.

Eddy
Answer:

Hi Eddy, if there is visible damage that cannot be cleaned with a dishcloth and soap we recommend replacing the rack. For the upper rack you will need to order 5304498211, and for the lower rack you will need to order 808602302. I hope this helps.

My old racks were rusting from the top of the tines.

I thought these were OE racks they are not. They did do the job. However, I like OE parts the difference is exactly where the fold over rack on top rack goes the tines were not there to clip on it into there was a larger gap. So it was almost the same except the most important area. Same for the cone that clips in the center of the top rack. It is not as tight a fit front to back as it should be so it moves around more. I was concerned that the jet of water from top would miss the cone but it seems to be ok. So far so good. The racks did the job dishwasher is still cleaning dishes. But aftermarket parts are almost the same just not quite the same.

Racks were rusting and pins breaking off

The parts came very quickly and the lower rack just slid in after sliding the old one out. The upper required removing the end stops and removing the rack. The water spout in the middle had to be removed, twisted off and then popped the holder for the spout off and attached it to the new rack, rolled the new rack in and replaced the end stops. This was done by my wife!

Old racks were getting rusty

Replaced racks and removed silverware holder, glass holder and water sprayer from old rack and attached to new rack with very little trouble. The only thing different with the new lower rack, is that it does not have the collapsible racks to use for pots.

The plastic handle broke off the door latch and the brackets broke so someone threw out the fence.

First I removed the six screws from the door panel, then I removed the old door latch assembly, there were two torx screws and four electrical connectors. I reattached the new electical connectors and screwed it back in place. Then I put the door panel back on with the screws. It was easy, my husband thought I would not be able do it.
